“That’s a Very Insulting Thing”: Adam Friedland Calls Out Patrick Bet-David and His Co-Host for Making Fun of His Mother’s Death Due to Brain Cancer

Comedian Adam Friedland lashes out at Patrick Bet-David’s co-host Adam Sosnick over an inappropriate remark about his mother.

On October 16, 2026, popular podcaster Patrick Bet-David hosted comedian Adam Friedland on his show. Bet-David, alongside his co-host Adam Sosnick, discussed several topics with Friedland. At one point, they touched on government priorities around threats versus healthcare. The comedian said the administration should focus on cancer research instead of terrorism.

Friedland revealed that his mother died of brain cancer. In response, Sosnick said she “might have died of a headache.” The comedian lashed out at the hosts, saying the joke was not okay to make about his mother’s death. He interrupted the hosts, standing his ground on the inappropriate remark.

Sosnick denied making the comment, while Bet-David said he had not heard what his co-host said. Bet-David tried to move on from the heated exchange, but Friedland refused to budge. He said:

“Brutal one there. My mom died of a headache? You make a joke about that? About her brain cancer? Pat, that’s inappropriate… He made a joke about my mother’s brain cancer on a livestream right now… No, no, no, that’s a very insulting thing…”

Ana Kasparian Reacts to Patrick Bet-David’s Response

After the moment of Adam Friedland confronting them went viral, Patrick Bet-David addressed the matter in a follow-up podcast episode. His co-host Adam Sosnick apologized for the comments about the comedian’s mother, though he claimed Friedland was trying to provoke them. He said he “took the bait,” which led to the inappropriate remark. He said:

“It was not my intent to disrespect the guy. I do think it was his intent to come on the podcast and clearly disrupt and basically provoke us, and unfortunately I took the bait, and I made an inappropriate comment, and I apologize for that.”

The host of The Young Turks, Ana Kasparian, who has criticized Bet-David on several occasions, reacted to the clip. Claiming that Sosnick had the “mental capacity and maturity of a toddler,” she wrote this on X:

“How many times is Patrick going to allow Adam to humiliate him and debase him like this? Adam has the mental capacity and maturity of a toddler, and even that is an insult to toddlers.”
