Microsoft has revealed pricing for a new Xbox Cloud Gaming option that allows players to stream games without an active Xbox Game Pass subscription.
The new service lets users purchase cloud gaming hours rather than pay for a monthly subscription, offering another way to access Xbox games across supported devices.
Starting October 21, Xbox Insiders can test the feature ahead of a wider rollout planned for November, with Microsoft offering introductory pricing across three playtime packages.
Xbox Cloud Gaming playtime prices revealed
According to Microsoft’s announcement, Xbox Insiders without an active Game Pass subscription can purchase cloud playtime in three different bundles:
- 10 hours for $3.99
- 25 hours for $7.99
- 50 hours for $11.99
Each package provides an ad-free cloud gaming experience with shorter wait times and high-quality streaming.
Unlike a traditional subscription, purchased playtime does not expire. Players can use their remaining hours whenever they return to the service.
However, purchasing cloud playtime does not automatically grant access to Xbox’s entire game library. Users must own an eligible cloud-playable game or access one of the supported free-to-play titles.
MicrosoftMicrosoft also notes that availability, purchasing options, eligible games, and streaming features may vary depending on the player’s market, device, account eligibility, and Xbox Insider preview ring.
The company has not confirmed whether the introductory prices will remain the same when the service becomes more widely available in November.
The paid option follows Microsoft’s earlier announcement in July 2026 that it was testing ad-supported Xbox Cloud Gaming for players without Game Pass.
That alternative allows eligible Xbox Insiders to stream supported games for free in exchange for watching advertisements, giving users another way to access cloud gaming without a subscription.
With the introduction of paid playtime bundles, Microsoft is now testing both free, ad-supported streaming and prepaid, ad-free streaming alongside its existing Game Pass cloud gaming offerings.
Xbox Insiders can begin testing the new playtime packages immediately, with Microsoft encouraging participants to submit feedback before the broader November rollout.
