A man was launched to a record-breaking height of 92ft in the air after three other men jumped on a water airbag.
Adrian and Eric Baumann, owners of experience provider Paintballfarm, have been organizing “blobbing” events for years. “Blobbing” is an activity that sees someone sat at the end of a large, partially inflated airbag (the blob), and being launched into the air.
The pair teamed up with a four-person unit comprised of Robin Steiner and Luc Siegenthaler from Switzerland, Lennart Florczak from Germany, and Tristan Kuhn from the USA, to attempt the world record for biggest height achieved from blobbing.
The previous record was 72ft in 2012
A team of Germans achieved a height of 72 ft (22m) in 2012, and this record stood until 2026 when the Baumanns and their four-person team came along and attempted to break it. On their first attempt, they broke the record with a height of 75ft (23m), but wanted to push it further.
On their second attempt, after a brief personnel change following a small injury, Steiner was the individual positioned at the end of the airbag while Siegenthaler, Florczak, and Kuhn were the trio jumping onto it.
According to the Guinness World Records, Steiner reached a height of 92.58ft (28.22m), securing the record for greatest height achieved launched from an airbag (blobbing).
Steiner described the feeling as “a car crash in reverse”, but one of the most incredible experiences of his life. He also said that the force of being launched was much more intense than the crash into the water.
Adrian Baumann spoke highly of the whole experience: “It was simply incredible. Everyone was absolutely thrilled, and the spectators went completely crazy.”
“When you put so much time, work and energy into preparing a project like this and then everything comes together perfectly at exactly the right moment, it is an indescribable feeling,” he continued. “The whole team was incredibly happy and proud. It is a moment we will certainly never forget.”
