Apple’s iPhone Duo has failed JerryRigEverything’s durability test after dust left its hinge unable to close and a bend test permanently damaged its inner display.
YouTuber Zack Nelson put Apple’s foldable phone through his usual series of scratch, dust, and bending tests, uncovering some expensive weaknesses in the process.

The test initially got off to a promising start, with the iPhone Duo’s exterior display showing only faint scratches at level seven on the Mohs hardness scale.
Its flexible inner screen proved considerably more vulnerable, scratching at level two and developing deeper marks from fingernails.
However, Nelson praised Apple’s matte coating for making those imperfections far less noticeable when the display was switched on, although the blemishes remained permanent.
Things took a turn when he covered the device in dust and dirt to test its resistance to debris.
Despite Apple’s IP68 dust and water resistance rating, Nelson found that particles appeared to enter the hinge, preventing the phone from closing completely.
“The dusty Duo is damaged,” he said, explaining that the magnets holding the device shut could no longer overcome the debris trapped inside.
The problems continued during his bend test, which caused a permanent green line to appear across the inner display.
A second attempt produced two additional lines, with Nelson concluding that the hinge allowed enough movement to damage the flexible screen.
“The iPhone Duo does not survive my durability test,” he said.
By the end of the test, the inner display was completely unresponsive, with Nelson highlighting the $1,000 cost of replacing it.
He couldn’t determine whether the dust trapped inside the hinge contributed to the failure or whether the hinge itself lacked sufficient rigidity.
While the test subjected the phone to conditions beyond normal everyday use, Nelson warned against putting pressure on the device while it was unfolded.
