United States Senator Bernie Sanders listed several companies that paid less than $1 in federal income taxes last year. On his personal X account, the senator mentioned a few companies. According to Sanders’ post, which draws on ITEP’s April 14, 2026, analysis of 2025 filings, these companies paid no federal income tax, though company 10-Ks report federal cash tax payments for several, including CVS Health and United Airlines. The senator highlighted fast food restaurants such as KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut, as well as major tech companies like Tesla and HP.

“If you paid $1 in federal income taxes last year, you paid more than:

Disney

American Airlines

Citigroup

CVS

DoorDash

GoDaddy

H&R Block

HP

Kohl’s

Ticketmaster

Palantir

PayPal

Roku

Southwest Airlines

Tesla

United Airlines

Pizza Hut

Taco Bell

KFC

Absurd. We need REAL tax reform.”

After listing all of the companies, the senator ended his post with a suggestion for real tax reform. According to a report from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, there are more companies that were not listed on this post. This is based on a report from April 14, 2026, which features at least 88 corporations that made significant profits.

Most of the companies the senator mentioned in his post made significant profits in 2025, but none of them paid more than $1 in federal income taxes. This benefits industry leaders and the wealthy, which puts ordinary citizens who pay their taxes at a disadvantage. Senator Bernie Sanders does not shy away from expressing his thoughts, especially in this matter, and he is hoping for a tax reform that will affect major corporations.
