Sewer-dwelling man arrested for harassing woman’s children

A man allegedly living in a sewer was arrested after a mother reported him to police for repeatedly approaching and harassing her children.

Unique Wiggins, a resident of Baltimore County, Maryland, received a panicked call from her 21-year-old daughter who claimed she was being harassed by a man.

However, when Wiggins asked who the man was, her daughter responded by claiming that “the man in the sewer” was the one harassing her. According to Wiggins, the man allegedly chased her children down the street.

Wiggins investigated the sewer herself

Wiggins went over to the nearby manhole and heard somebody singing inside. As per CBS Baltimore, Wiggins said: “I think, ‘This is unbelievable.’ So I’m like, ‘Yo, yo, you,’ and he’s like, ‘What?’ And I said, ‘Leave my f****** kids alone.’

“And he said, ‘No, tell them to leave me alone?’ And I said, ‘They can’t possibly be messing with you, and you are in the sewer,’” Wiggins continued.

Wiggins then contacted the police regarding the encounters, also believing that the man trespassed on her property and broke into her car. Baltimore County Police confirmed the man was arrested for trespassing and released on his own recognizance on October 13.

“I’m not saying this gentleman should necessarily go to jail, but he should not live in the sewer. He should not be able to be down there,” said Wiggins.

The man was initially served with an interim peace order, which was then reissued as a temporary order the next day. However, the order expired unserved because of the man’s address being listed as unknown.

As per The Independent, Baltimore County Police Department said in a statement that they remain “focused on addressing community concerns, and public safety remains the priority as this process moves through the court system.”
