Rex Infernus is the finale to Black Ops 7 Zombies, and it’s time to put an end to the Warden and mend the Dark Aether with aid from the Shadowsmiths. If you’re looking for a full walkthrough of the Rex Infernus easter egg, you can find it here. We’ll have the step-by-step process below to help you through every puzzle that you might face as you attempt to reach the boss fight and reach the end of Black Ops 7 Zombies‘ storyline.
Rex Infernus Easter Egg Steps (Overview)
- Activate Pack-a-Punch to Get the Void Claw.
- Complete the Warden’s Blight Wonder Weapon Quest.
- Return to the House to Upgrade the Void Claw.
- Repair the Nexus Forge.
- Solve the Stone Cube Puzzle in Veytharion’s Sanctuary.
- Cleanse Dravakar’s Temple.
- Cleanse Nyxara’s Temple.
- Cleanse Caltheris’s Temple.
- Cleanse Veytharion’s Temple.
- Defeat the Warden.
Step #1: Activate Pack-a-Punch to Unlock the Void Claw
When you spawn in Her House, you need to head downstairs and wait until Round 3, where the phone will ring. Answer the call, and you can then teleport onto the map at the Nexus Forge. Head to the central pedestal and place the World Seed to attract the Dread Skulls, which can be shot to force them to retreat. Follow them one at a time into the temples and kill them.
Once they are dead, they will drop Usurped Flame, which can be picked up and brought back to the Nexus Forge. Once you’ve repeated with both Dread Skulls, rotate the Crank Wheels to activate Pack-a-Punch. You can now head to the bottom of the Nexus Forge to find the Void Claw on a pedestal, which will allow the Void Claw to be picked up from Void Pedestals around the map every round.
Step #2: Build the Warden’s Blight Wonder Weapon
Activate the Astral Flames
Take the Void Claw into the Nexus Forge and look at the sky to find a purple orb. You can drag this purple orb into Pack-a-Punch, which will then allow you to rotate the Crank Wheels again to produce two Astral Flames (purple fire pits), but ignore these for now.
Find & Place the Fracture of Nyxara
Head into Dravakar Main Chamber and face southwest, where you can use the Void Claw to reach the ceiling. At the northwest wall, you can use a grenade to destroy it and reveal the Fracture of Nyxara. You need to take the Fracture of Nyxara to the north wall in Nyxara Main Chamber to place it on the missing pedestal (as shown above).
Open Nyxara’s Inner Sanctum
Return to the Astral Flame in the Nexus Forge and interact with it. Once you’re carrying the fire, take it to the Nyxara Sanctuary and face west, where you can shoot the fire at the eye door. This will cause a purple projectile to ping between the crystals on the walls.
You need to use the Void Claw on the wall crystals so that the purple projectile can ping between them and enter the Nyxara Main Chamber. Once it’s inside, you will need to use the Void Claw on the crystals of this room until the projectile hits the locked south door, revealing an orb that takes you into the Nyxara Inner Sanctum.
This might take some trial and error to grapple the correct crystals, as the projectile will despawn after a while, which means you will have to get the Usurped Fire from the Nexus Forge again.
Enter the Forest to Claim the Warden’s Blight Parts
From inside Nyxara Inner Sanctum, stand underneath the tree roots and let it absorb your health. When it’s finished draining your health, a fruit will be revealed (on round 8+), and you can interact with it to eat it and teleport to a strange forest outside of the map.
Inside the forest, locate the three corpses and interact with them to reveal the three parts to the Warden’s Blight. The corpses are as follows:
- Corpse #1 is in the middle of the map, by a rock.
- Corpse #2 is by a burned-down cabin; you need to melee strike the wooden panel to his left.
- Corpse #3 is in the back left corner, at the entrance of a cave.
Solve the Dravakar Puzzle and Forge the Warden’s Blight
With your three pieces acquired, you will teleport back to the Nyxara Inner Sanctum. You will now need to travel to Dravakar Sanctuary, where you will find blue writing on the southwest wall that can be interacted with. You will receive one of four quotes, and the quote you receive dictates the order of levers you need to interact with.
Around the Dravakar Sanctuary, there will be three levers:
- Lever #1 is at the northeast wall, close to the Armor Wall-Buy.
- Lever #2 is at the east wall, opposite the blue writing and close to the Ammo Box.
- Lever #3 is at the southeast wall, to the left of the GobbleGum Machine.
Below, you will find the correct order in which you need to pull the levers depending on the quote you receive:
|
Quote |
Lever Sequence |
|---|---|
|
“I remember the runner that travels to stars, while moons and galaxies stay true.” |
Pull Lever #2 (2x) Pull Lever #3 (3x) |
|
“I drift to the runner that travels moons, who borrows from galaxies when stars stay true.” |
Pull Lever #1 (3x) Pull Lever #2 (2x) Pull Lever #3 (1x) |
|
“I drift to stars that remember moons, who borrow the runner that travels the galaxy.” |
Pull Lever #1 (1x) Pull Lever #2 (2x) Pull Lever #3 (2x) |
|
“I remember galaxies that drift to moons, who borrow the runner that travels the stars.” |
Pull Lever #1 (2x) Pull Lever #3 (2x) |
Once you have input your lever sequence, you can interact with the pillar in the middle of the room. If you’ve done so correctly, the pillar will lower to the ground, but doing so incorrectly means you will have to try again next round. Now, grab the Void Claw and look up to the ceiling to access Dravakar Inner Sanctum, where you can interact with Dravakar’s Anvil to get the Warden’s Blight Wonder Weapon.
Make sure you Pack-a-Punch the Warden’s Blight, as you will need its charged shot for the next steps of the easter egg.
Step #3: Return to Her House to Acquire the Eye of the Forge
You now need to return to the Nexus Forge and look toward the house. Use a scoped weapon to see a basketball in the collapsed roof (as shown above) and shoot it. This will cause a symbol to appear, and you need to remember where that symbol appeared. Now, flip to the next round, and your second symbol will appear. Repeat this until there are four symbols, and remember the sequence in which they appeared from first to last.
On your next Exfil Round (Round 11 and every 5 rounds after), you will need to look at the house and shoot the symbols in the order that they first appeared. If done so correctly, the symbols will begin flashing, and you can interact with the Exfil Booth and kill the HVT to teleport into Her House.
Inside Her House, head upstairs and look at the south wall, where you can use a charged shot of the Warden’s Blight inside the bathroom to spit out the Eye of the Forge. Pick it up, survive the Ravagers and Doppelghasts, then answer the phone to the Nexus Forge and interact with a Void Pedestal to permanently upgrade the Void Claw (but only for that specific spot, so choose wisely).
Step #4: Repair the Nexus Forge
With your upgraded Void Claw, you will need to use it to grapple onto specific squares around the Nexus Forge:
- Three squares are on the three wall pillars surrounding Pack-a-Punch.
- Six squares are on the west wall underneath the Pack-a-Punch.
- Six squares are on the east wall underneath the Pack-a-Punch.
Once all of these squares have been destroyed with the Void Claw, you can use explosives or the Wonder Weapon to destroy the webs behind each newly revealed wall (in the east and west).
You can now rotate the Crank Wheels to Surge the Nexus. Afterward, interact with the lever on the floor beneath the Pack-a-Punch to lock it into place, and the walls upstairs that you interacted with now have levers that can be used to align the Nexus Forge to different temples, but we’ll come back to this later.
You will have three cranks on the pillars on the inside of Pack-a-Punch, in the middle of Pack-a-Punch, and outside of Pack-a-Punch. You need to interact with them so that a blue light shoots into the face of one of the Shadowsmiths for each temple you wish to cleanse. You can use the Cleanse the Temples puzzle solve at rexinfernus.netlify to make this easier.
Step #5: Solve the Cube Puzzle in Veytharion’s Sanctuary

Inside Veytharion’s Sanctuary, you can find 4 stone blocks through Death Perception. When you find one of these blocks, hold the interact button to drag it to the northwest wall of the temple by the cliff until you have all 4.
You now need to place the blocks into the left column of the wall in this specific order from bottom row to top row:
- Fire
- Air (Hand)
- Earth (Leaf)
- Water (Waves)
Once these blocks are stacked on top of each other, move the Fire block, then the Air block to the right, where you can then shoot the center dial to light it up and transport them to the right. You will now need to follow the steps below exactly as we show them:
- Pick up the Fire block and place it on the right column.
- Shoot the orb in the center to transfer the Air blocks across to the left.
- Pick up the Water block and place it on the right column with the Air block.
- Shoot the central dial to move them to the right.
- Place the Air block on top of the Fire block.
- Place the Water block on top of the Air block.
- Take out the Fire block and place it on the left.
- Take out the Air block and place it on the left.
- Shoot the dial to send the blocks back to the left.
- Place the Air block in the left column.
- Place the Fire block in the left column.
- Place the Earth block to the right.
- Place the Air block to the right.
- Send them back to the right side again.
- Place the Earth block on top of the Water block.
- Shoot the dial to send the Air block to the left.
- Place the Fire block on the right.
- Shoot the dial to send Fire and Air back to the right.
- Place the Air block on top of the Earth block.
- Place the Fire block on top of the Air block.
All four blocks should now be in the right column, which will open up the secret wall to reveal a portal, completing this very complicated step. Just interact with the portal to get your audio quote, then you can begin the next step.
Step #6: Cleanse Dravakar’s Temple
Acquire the Blacksmith’s Hammer
Use the pillar levers at the Nexus Forge until a blue beam shoots into Dravakar’s mouth. Once that’s done, head to the Arsenal and equip Shatter Blast as your Ammo Mod. You now need to use the Void Claw to enter Dravakar’s Inner Sanctum (where you built the wonder weapon).
In each corner of the room, you will find a shield, and you need to kill a zombie with Shatter Blast to break the shield and reveal an item behind the shield. When you get the Blacksmith’s Hammer, you can head to Dravakar Main Chamber and place it into the stone cauldron.
Give the Titan an Offering
Now, use the Void Claw at the Nexus Forge to pull a purple orb into Pack-a-Punch and acquire the Astral Flames by rotating the Crank Wheels. Take the Astral Flame to the stone cauldron and throw it inside to light it. This will cause a cold mist to attach to a zombie, and you need to take that zombie to Caltheris Passage, where the Titan Trap can be found.
When the mist-covered zombie is with you, interact with the Titan Trap, and it will stand under one of the Titan’s wrists and die. If done correctly, the Titan Trap will deactivate, and you will get a quote.
Reveal and Destroy the Shadow Souls

Head into Dravakar’s Main Chamber and face the central pillar while standing, and interact with the stone plate shown in the image above. You need to let a zombie damage you until the stone plate raises slightly to reveal a button, which you can raise into the sky by shooting it with a charged shot from the Warden’s Blight.
A blue beam will now shoot inside Dravakar Main Chamber, and you can shoot the dial to direct the light. You need this light to fire at the southeast wall in the corner, exactly as shown above. If you kill zombies, their souls will enter the beam and break the wall to reveal a stone head.
Shoot the stone head to reveal the Shadow Soul, which you can then kill. You now need to find and kill all 4 Shadow Souls in the Dravakar Main Chamber, so watch your minimap and listen for where they are. Once they are dead, shoot the stone statue to end the lockdown.
Cleanse Dravakar
Head to Dravakar Entrance and grab the Void Claw. You need to pull a purple orb so it’s directly below Dravakar’s head, between the blue fire pits by the stairs leading to his temple. Use a charged Warden’s Blight shot to send the orb up, and it should enter Dravakar’s skull to cause his eyes to glow purple.
You now need it to be raining, which will occur at the beginning of the next round if you interact with the blue portal in Veytharion’s Sanctuary (from the previous step). When it’s raining, activate the Astral Flame again and shoot the fire at Dravakar’s forehead to cause lightning to strike him. This will cleanse Dravakar’s temple.
Every final temple step will require rain, so repeat the step above with the portal in Veytharion’s Sanctuary in the steps below.
Step #7: Cleanse Nyxara’s Temple
Acquire the Ancient Scroll
Use the pillar levers at the Nexus Forge until a blue beam shoots into Nyxara’s mouth. You now need to equip Shadow Rift as your Ammo Mod and get enough kills with Shadow Rift activations until the Ancient Scroll drops. This is easiest to do in the forest area where you picked up the Warden’s Blight pieces, so head inside Nyxara Inner Sanctum to re-enter this location.
Give the Titan an Offering
With the Ancient Scroll, place it in the stone cauldron at Nyxara’s Main Chamber. Now, like before, use the Astral Flame to light the stone cauldron, which will cause a zombie to be covered in fire runes. You can take this zombie to the Titan outside Veytharion Passage, and once activated, the fire rune zombie will get crushed by the Titan, and the quote means you’ve done it correctly.
Reveal and Destroy the Shadow Souls

Back inside the Nyxara Entrance, there is a stone plate in front of the central pillar that you can interact with and go prone on for an extended period of time to cause it to open. When it does, shoot the charged shot from the Warden’s Blight to activate the blue beam dial, then shoot the dial so it fires down in the south corner as shown above.
Kill zombies until the beam breaks the wall below, then shoot the stone statue that’s revealed to expose the Shadow Souls that will be hiding in the Nyxara Main Chamber. With all four dead, shoot the stone statue to end the lockdown so you can leave the temple.
Cleanse Nyxara
Use the Void Claw to drag a purple orb underneath Nyxara’s head, then use the charged Warden’s Blight shot to send the orb into the dragon’s skull so the eyes glow purple. Turn the rain on again, then use the Astral Flame on top of Nyxara’s nose to strike her with lightning and cleanse the temple.
Step #8: Cleanse Caltheris’s Temple
Acquire the Shimmering Thread
Use the pillar levers at the Nexus Forge until a blue beam shoots into Caltheris’s mouth. You need to look up to the sky with the purple orbs and drag them toward you with the Void Claw. Interact with these orbs, and they will eventually drop the Shimmering Thread, which can take a few tries.
Give the Titan an Offering
Place the Shimmering Thread inside the stone cauldron within the Caltheris Main Temple and use the Astral Flame at the Nexus Forge to set it aflame. This will cause yet another zombie to get covered in mist, which you can bring to the Caltheris Passage Titan to get it killed for a quote and the next step.
Reveal and Destroy the Shadow Souls

Inside the Caltheris Main Chamber, there’s another stone plate that you need to interact with. To activate it, stand on it and stay completely still while aiming down sights (ADS). It will eventually open, and you can use the charged Warden’s Blight shot to cause the dial to light up and reveal the blue beam.
Angle the dial toward the northeast of the room (as shown above) and then get zombie kills to charge it and break the wall, where you can once again shoot the stone statue, kill the 4 Shadow Souls, and end the lockdown by shooting the stone statue.
Cleanse Caltheris
Just like the other temples, use the Void Claw to drag a purple orb underneath Caltheris’s head and shoot it with a charged Warden’s Blight shot to send it up and make her eyes glow purple. Then, wait for it to start raining, and shoot an Astral Flame at her forehead to let lightning strike it, cleansing her and leaving you with just one more Shadowsmith to go.
Step #9: Cleanse Veytharion’s Temple
Acquire the Woven Sash

Use the pillar levers at the Nexus Forge until a blue beam shoots into Veytharion’s mouth. You need to now acquire the Woven Sash, which has multiple spawns, but will only appear when it is raining:
- Behind the Mystery Box on the ledge at Ruinas Insula.
- At the Spira Insula, on the left rock outside the map.
- At the Aanea Insula when looking down from northwest.
Give the Titan an Offering
You can place the Woven Sash in the cauldrion in Veytharion’s Main Chamber, and then light the cauldron with the Astral Flame from Pack-a-Punch. This will cause a zombie to be infected with mist for the final time, and you can take this zombie to the Veytharion Passage to get killed by the Titan for the last quote.
Reveal and Destroy the Shadow Souls

There’s a stone plate in the Veytharion Main Chamber, and you can interact with it, then repeatedly jump on it. Activate the dial inside with a charged shot from Warden’s Blight, and shoot the dial so the blue beam fires into the zombie barrier by the wall-buy in the northwest area (shown above).
Get zombie kills to reveal the stone statue and shoot it, where you can find the four Shadow Souls. There’s also an Abomination to kill, so make sure you’re prepared, and when they are all dead, shoot the stone statue and leave for Veytharion Passage.
Cleanse Veytharion
Use the Void Claw to drag a purple orb underneath Veytharion and shoot it with the charged Warden’s Blight to cause Veytharion’s mouths to glow purple. You can now use the Astral Flame to shoot a fireball on top of his middle head to strike him with lightning and cleanse your final temple.
Step #10: Defeat the Warden
The Warden is the boss fight in Rex Infernus, and when you’re ready, you can head underneath Pack-a-Punch to stand in the blue circles and confront the final boss. This boss is extremely challenging, so Aether Shroud, Stim Shots, and Perkaholics as backup are going to be vital if you want to survive.
Inside the boss arena, you will need to stay on the move constantly, as the Warden is very fast and will try to kill you. Use the Void Claw to get away from the Warden, and shoot his floating skulls to reveal his critical hit spot on top of his tail (and stun him) so you can deal more damage.
In his immune phases, shoot the Shadow Souls. If his tails ever appear on the ground, destroy them, as if too many appear, they can start a wipe mechanic, so make sure you destroy them all (or jump off the map to avoid its blast, but you need to time this perfectly).
