The category this year had six nominees instead of the usual five, after a tie in the nominations round widened the field.
Competing against South Park were Bob’s Burgers for the episode Grand Pre-Pre-Pre Opening, Rick and Morty for the episode There’s Something About Morty, The Simpsons for the episode Homer? A Cracker Bro?, Smiling Friends for the episode Le Voyage Incroyable De Monsieur Grenouille, and Star Wars: Visions for the episode Black.
Despite the crowded field, prediction trackers had called the race for South Park well before the ceremony, giving the show near-unanimous odds to win.
