On September 21, 2026, Governor Gavin Newsom reacted to a recent post from the White House’s official X account, which shared a graphic for the new “Trump TV.” On its official YouTube channel, a livestream titled TRUMP TV: The Essentials Station will broadcast highlights and updates in real time, as well as stream old events 24/7.
The announcement came after the president said he is banning certain media outlets. These include CNN, MS NOW, and POLITICO, which will be denied White House access. Newsom responded to the post, calling Trump a “failed president.” Suggesting the livestream amounts to “state-run TV,” he wrote:

CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO File a Lawsuit After Donald Trump Banned Them

The outlets announced that the move is meant to protect their First Amendment rights. Furthermore, the lawsuit aims to restore their White House press credentials, which they say were revoked without notice. In the statement, they wrote:
“This morning, we notified the government that we are filing a lawsuit today to protect our First Amendment rights and defend the principle that the government does not decide what the press reports or publishes. Without notice or process, the White House revoked our journalists’ credentials because it objected to our reporting.
