On October 6, 2026, Elon Musk reacted to a report by the New York Post. For context, in 2023, a hiker was found stabbed to death by neighbors. A Marine recruit named Zion Teasley, who was allegedly in transition to live as a trans woman, recently pleaded guilty and will spend life in prison after admitting to the stabbing. According to reports, the hiker, a beauty technician named Lauren Heike, was what Zion allegedly wanted to look like.
Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO who has previously voiced criticism of the trans community, reacted to the New York Post reports. Stating that technology has not advanced to the point of allowing sex changes, he wrote this on X:
“The technology simply doesn’t exist to change sex.”
The New York Post alleged that Teasley had felt depressed seeing beautiful women, and felt stuck being a man. Surveillance footage reportedly caught the Marine recruit stalking Heike before the stabbing. Police ultimately caught Zion several days later.
Reports also revealed that this wasn’t the first offense: Teasley had previously spent a year in prison for armed robbery and was on probation at the time of the arrest. Reports suggest Teasley had struggled with his gender identity and sexuality.

On the same day, Elon Musk reacted to Zion Teasley pleading guilty to stabbing a hiker. On X, he suggested that there were multiple cases like Teasley’s. He wrote:
