Netizens react to xQc calling out fellow streamers and content creators for doing subathons just to earn some money.

Popular Kick and Twitch streamer Félix Lengyel, better known as xQc, gives his hot take about streamers doing subathons. On September 4, 2026, the streamer sat down with his dad for an autocomplete interview, and one question involved whether he had done a subathon before. The streamer explained his side and believes this is just a performance from other creators to ‘beg’ for more money. His answer drew the attention of some netizens who think he shouldn’t undermine the efforts of other creators.
“No need to hate. Some streamers grind subathons. Some streamers grind slots. Different lanes, same hustle.” X user @IamKrisLondon replied.
“Even subathon now losing its meaning, I thought it’s about viewer don’t want to let the streams to stop cause they want to watch the streams all the time, and now it just like some kind of show with predetermined date that streams going to end.” X user @Nemninq wrote.
“They ruined subathons that ludwig did and turned it into this disgusting bulls*** of screaming at the monitor and making some loser feel good by saying their name and moving on lmao like just do a regular marathon at that point without the slimy s***,” X user @Pompomcuteaf remarked.
However, some users believe there are real benefits to subathons. One user stated that viewers are not obligated to send money if they are entertained and can just watch for free and let others donate.
“It’s compensation for working every day for a month without a day off. It’s also a special event for their community where they get to see more of their streamer. Notice how people from in their community aren’t hating? There’s also no obligation to gift, you can watch for free,” X user @FrostyAU stated.
“Subathons aren’t necessarily a bad thing tbh,” X user @MoreCheesur commented.
“Those who actually need donations don’t have the reach. Those who have the reach don’t actually need them.” X user @666spooked replied.
