YouTube star Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White has announced that his Godslap graphic novel is being adapted into a hand-drawn animated movie scheduled for release in 2028.
MoistCr1TiKaL is best known for his YouTube commentary and livestreams, but the creator has expanded into several projects outside content creation, including esports, music, comics, and even a recent voice role in Netflix’s Baki-Dou anime.
Created by White alongside Jackson Clarke, Danny Palmer, and Matthew Phillips, Godslap is a cyberpunk-inspired comic built around a world where people can wield devastating supernatural power through their hands.
The series launched in 2022 through publisher Bad Egg and has since sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide, according to Deadline.
Godslap previously received a short animated adaptation from Sakowski Studios, which transformed the comic’s opening 15 pages into a proof-of-concept sequence. At the time, the studio said it hoped the project could eventually become a full series or feature film.
Godslap is already in production for 2028
White officially revealed the movie in a September 3 YouTube video titled “No One Can Stop It Now”, alongside the first teaser for the upcoming adaptation.
Lyrical Animation is producing the movie alongside White’s Meatier Productions, with Kellan Stover directing. Daniel Dominguez, Lyrical’s creative director, and Jacob Robinson, the head of Lyrical Animation, are writing the screenplay.
Powerhouse Animation Studios, the company behind Netflix projects including Castlevania and Masters of the Universe: Revelation, will handle the film’s 2D animation. Production is already underway ahead of the planned 2028 release.
Godslap follows an 18-year-old farm boy who was raised in hiding by a father who considers his extraordinary abilities a curse. After losing everything during a single night of rebellion, he must decide whether the force in his hands makes him a monster or the only person capable of destroying the corporation controlling the world.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to make an animated movie, especially with a studio like Powerhouse, so I couldn’t be more excited,” White said. “We’ve got an amazing team and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’re making.”
Lyrical’s Daniel Dominguez described Godslap as an “anime-inflected, hilariously violent comic” and called it a natural fit for an animated feature.
No voice cast, distributor, or exact release date has been announced. Lyrical Animation is also developing an animated Bloodborne movie with PlayStation Productions and YouTuber Jacksepticeye.
Godslap is the latest creator-led property to make the jump to cinemas following the breakout success of Markiplier’s Iron Lung, which earned nearly $50 million worldwide against a reported budget of approximately $3 million.
