Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4‘s DMZ is vastly different from its predecessor, featuring no Insured Slots. With this change, some players may be confused about how to actually unlock weapons in DMZ, since the game features a separate progression system from the other modes. These are largely done through Weapon Manuals. Here is how to get Weapon Manuals in DMZ.
How to Get Weapon Manuals in Modern Warfare 4 DMZ
Weapon Manuals are the go-to way to get weapons in DMZ, as they unlock them in the Gunsmith for you to purchase in the FOB. To get Weapon Manuals, you are going to need to rely on RNG, as they can only be found randomly in the following two loot caches:
- Military Containers (Green Military Crates or Weapon Lockers)
- Safes
If you are deploying into Dynamic Operations, the best places to head to are High Threat areas. These are the zones marked in red. However, you may very well also find them in lower-threat military areas, too. The train is also a good place to head to. For those completing their missions, however, complete these requirements first:
- Finish Operation Critical Extraction
- Finish Operation Silent Ledger
- Finish Operation Shopping Hacks
From here, load into the Operation Iron Citadel Mission. Infilling here gives you the best possible loot path for securing Weapon Manuals, thus allowing you to increase your chances of securing them. Once you have a Weapon Manual, you will need to extract it or secure it in your Insured Slot to bring it back to the FOB.
Extracting Weapon Manuals for a corresponding weapon will unlock that weapon in the Gunsmith for you to purchase, along with also unlocking the War Spoils Camo for that weapon if you extract three Weapon Manuals.
All Methods to Unlock Weapons in Modern Warfare 4 DMZ
Weapon Manuals are not the only way to get weapons in DMZ, but they are the most surefire way. While Weapon Manuals permanently unlock weapons for purchase in the Gunsmith, you can skip the grind for some guns altogether by securing a Weapon Blueprint as a cosmetic reward in Modern Warfare 4 or by extracting weapons in DMZ to secure them in your stash. Here is every way to unlock weapons in DMZ:
- Weapon Manuals (found in the A.O. in DMZ)
- Owned Blueprints (via the Store, Rewards, or Vault Edition)
- Extract weapons from the A.O. (does not permanently unlock that weapon for the Gunsmith but can be customized)
- Purchased from the Vendor in the FOB (resets daily)
