How to Beat Operation Archangel in Ghost Recon Wildlands

Operation Archangle will have players working with operators from Rainbow Six: Siege in Ghost Recon Wildlands. Your job here is simple: find Rainbow operator Caveira, and get her to safety. Unfortunately, Cav’s on a warpath of her own, and if you want to finish Operation Archangel in Wildlands, you’ll need to be ready for a big fight.

Operation Archangel — Part 1 (Caimanes)

You’ll get this mission once you enter the Caimanes region. Head to the yellow 6 marker in southeastern Caimanes, and you’ll find a cartel truck with a bunch of dead sicarios all over. Bowman will get you in contact with Valkyrie, one of the Rainbow operatives in Bolivia who’s trying to track down Caveira. Valkyrie will tell you to meet with her fellow Rainbow member Twitch, who you’ll find once you follow your quest marker.

Go to Twitch, then take her back to the ambushed truck. Once she’s done investigating, follow the next objective marker to reach a Santa Blanca camp that also got hit by Caveira. To start the next scenario, look for a comms building on the northwestern outskirts of the camp, then interrogate the radio operator there. He’ll tell you about a man Dengoso, who is somehow tied to Caveira.

Do not kill the operator, or you’ll have to start the camp investigation again.

After the interrogation, Santa Blanca reinforcements will arrive, and you’ll have to hold them all back in a loud gunfight. Like in the second half of Wildlands’ Operation Watchman, stealth is not an option here. Take off your suppressors to improve your muzzle velocity and damage, and use grenades liberally. In my playthrough, I went straight for the three-storey building in the middle of the camp, then I used rebel mortar strikes to hit the cartel minigun trucks.

Before interrogating the radio operator, consider laying down some anti-vehicle mines along the road leading to the camp. Proximity mines can help against sicarios too. Also, make sure Twitch is always following you.

The second part of Operatin Archangel will begin once you enter Libertad, which is just south of Caimanes. If Bowman and Valkyrie don’t contact you, restart your game.

Your first objective is to investigate Dengoso’s apartment, and from there, you’ll discover that he’s actually Caveira’s little brother who got caught by the cartel while working undercover. Dengoso’s in the nearby chemical plant in Libertad, and Caveira’s already on her way there.

Look for the picture frame and telephone inside Dengoso’s apartment to complete this part of Operation Archangel.

After you’re done with the apartment, head toward the chemical plant, and check in with Caveira in one of the guardhouses. Once you’ve linked up with her, your next objective is to find Dengoso.

This is where Operation Archangel becomes tricky. The plant is swarming with cartel goons, and once you breach the building where Dengoso is, even more cartel soldiers will start pouring into the facility. Before you breach the building, I recommend doing the following:

  • Unlock the Rebel Diversion and Guns-for-Hire abilities
  • Clear out the entire chemical plant
  • Take out the snipers in the watch towers and rooftops
  • Block the roads to the building using the other cars parked around the facility
  • Place anti-vehicle mines in front of your makeshift car blockades
  • There should be a helicopter parked nearby — get it, then park it on the rooftop of the objective building

    • If you can’t kick down the red door leading inside, go to the top of the building and jump off. You’ll have enough space to pull your parachute from there. Be warned that cartel forces might end up destroying the helicopter before you can use it to escape later.

You likely won’t need to do any of these if you’re playing on the lower difficulties, but you should absolutely do these preparations if you’re playing in Extreme or Tier One mode.

Breach the building by using C4 on the barricaded doorways. There are plenty of ammo caches inside the building, so don’t worry about running out of explosives. Every cartel soldier inside will light you up on sight, so be careful with how you breach, and make sure you watch those corners.

Fight your way to the top floor and clear every room you find. Dengoso will be in one of the maintenance rooms on the upper levels. Get him to follow you, then head to the building’s rooftop by finding and kicking down one of the doors on the top floor. Shoot down any enemy helicopters you see using a grenade launcher, machine gun, or hard-hitting sniper rifle like the HTI or BFG-50A. Once the airspace is clear, fly off to the rally point to extract Caveira and Dengoso.

After the short confrontation with Bowman and the Rainbow operatives, Operation Archangel will be completed, and you’ll get Caveira’s Gloves as a cosmetic reward.
