A man is suing an equipment company and sports store after he was injured by a puck in a game last year, and he is now unable to have sex regularly.
Sports injuries don’t just affect professional athletes. If you decide to have a pick-up game with your friends, chances are you might come away with a few knocks and scrapes that will take a little while to get over.
However, in the case of Ivan Zenchencko, the 32-year-old was on the end of a nasty injury during an ice hockey game in LA back in 2025.
The 32-year-old had a puck pierce through his helmet as he tried to block a goal-bound shot, leading to him being cut open and needing medical assistance. Upon transferring to a local hospital, Zenchencko suffered from memory loss and lack of coordination in his eyesight. However, that’s not all.
Man cannot “regularly function” after brutal hockey injury
According to court filings seen by the California Post, the 32-year-old and his wife, Sofia, are suing Bauer Hockey and a Pure Hockey store in Anaheim, California, claiming a defect in the helmet he was wearing.
“To date he cannot regularly function”, reads the lawsuit. Zenchenko’s lawyer Paul Sigelman also told The Post: “There are some intimacy problems. They don’t have the same sex life, Ivan is completely disabled. That’s a recognized matter in California that if you lose a sexual partner, that’s her loss and she has a right to sue for that.”
The legal expert called it a “multi-million dollar loss” for the couple too, but admitted they have not “yet fully ascertained” their losses.

While Zenchencko has not got back onto the ice since his injury, the lawyer explained that he’d like to in the future, even though he is struggling to remember basic moments at work.
