WWE legend Ric Flair has shared his first health update since being hospitalized following a fall outside a Florida restaurant.
The 77-year-old wrestling icon was taken to hospital on October 23 after reportedly falling and injuring his face in Tampa. Two days later, Flair has reassured fans that he is recovering, while also addressing posts made to his Facebook account during his hospitalization.
Ric Flair thanks fans and hospital staff
In Instagram and X posts on October 25, Flair thanked fans for their support and the medical staff at Tampa General Hospital who treated him.
“Thank you all for the messages and prayers! I will get back to you each individually as I get stronger,” he wrote.
“Thank you to all the Tampa General Hospital staff and doctors that put up with me until 4:30am. I appreciate you all and thank you for everything you did for me!”
Flair added: “I am focused on my healing and recovery right now. I will be okay!”
He also addressed activity on his Facebook account while he was hospitalized, revealing that he no longer controls the page.
“And just so you know for those who were asking and wondering, I don’t own my own Facebook page anymore. I apologize for the reckless posting behavior on my Facebook when I was in the hospital. It was completely inappropriate!”
The update comes after TMZ reported that Flair had fallen outside a Wagamama restaurant in Tampa on October 23.
According to the outlet, Flair had been at the restaurant’s bar before walking across the street, where he fell and injured his face. Emergency personnel attended the scene before he was transported to hospital by ambulance.
Sources told TMZ that Flair suffered cuts to his head and eye, with significant bleeding around the latter. An image of Flair posted alongside his statement showed him wearing an eye patch and what appeared to be bruising on his face.
Hours before the incident, Flair had revealed on Instagram that he would be unable to attend a scheduled fan convention in Seattle because of a blood clot in his leg.
He explained that doctors had advised him against flying long distances and that he was due to undergo a procedure to treat the affected vein.
There has been no confirmed connection between the blood clot and his subsequent fall.
