Popular streamer Hasan Piker on August 6, 2026, claimed that American news media company CNN has apologized after a panelist on their broadcast called Piker a dog abuser. Piker claimed that CNN issued a correction in a later broadcast, and criticized the panelist, Jonah Goldberg, for the comments, stating that “even Fox News doesn’t do this level of defamation.”
The political commentator repeatedly expressed his shock over the comments, and then played a clip of the incident for his viewers. He then stated he would “sue the m***********.” Piker then stated that CNN journalist Donie O’Sullivan could attest to the fact that he doesn’t abuse his dog:
“What’s really funny is Donie O’Sullivan is a person who has done a documentary on me on CNN and has been around Kaya and myself and could literally attest to it. They could just be like, ‘Hey Donie, you’ve been around Hasan Piker quite a bit. Do you think Hasan Piker abuses his dog?’”
It is worth noting that CNN did not issue an apology, and made a brief correction before going on a short commercial break:
“One note we do wanna add. Yesterday on the show, one of our panelists made an unexpected comment about Hasan Piker, claiming that he abuses his dog. Hasan Piker denies this claim. Right, we’ll be right back.”

The incident occurred during a recent episode of The Arena with Kasie Hunt. During a debate on the show, panelist Jonah Goldberg sought to draw a comparison between Hasan Piker and James Carville, and did so by invoking Kaya and calling Piker a dog abuser:
“The juxtaposition between Carville and Piker is very interesting to me. Carville’s a guy who’s won, I don’t know, hundreds of political campaigns in America over 30 years? 40 years? Hasan Piker is an influencer who abuses his dog on camera, and he is very popular with a certain fringe bunch of people out there. But he doesn’t care if the Democratic Party succeeds. He wins if the Democratic Party loses, and he wins if Democratic Socialists win.”
