Discover confirmed changes for the Enshrouded 1.0 update, including a new biome, enemy types, QoL, and performance optimizations.

Two and a half years after entering Early Access, Enshrouded is finally ready for its 1.0 release on October 15, 2026. For now, the developers have released very little information about the update through their official channels beyond fixes and performance improvements. While Keen Games hasn’t shared official patch notes yet, recent developer interviews reveal a massive lineup of confirmed content.
Confirmed Updates for Enshrouded 1.0
New Biome and World Update

Enshrouded 1.0 will introduce the Floating Islands biome, featuring suspended landmasses requiring vertical exploration with climbing, grappling hooks, and gliders. With the addition of the Floating Islands, the entire game map now spans nearly 100 square kilometers (38.6 square miles).
The story of the Floating Islands revolves around an ancient civilization known as the Builders. These mysterious forerunners created deadly robot guardians who roam the islands. In addition to these mechanical enemies, the update will also include a giant spider boss. Furthermore, existing areas of the map will be spruced up and reworked.
Base Automation Like Minecraft

The 1.0 update will introduce a new logic system, allowing devices such as pressure plates, levers, and switches to be chained together. This will allow players to create complex automated systems similar to Minecraft’s Redstone circuits. Examples include automated lights, doors, drains, traps, and even spawners to make dungeons.

Fully Voiced NPCs
All the NPCs now feature fully voiced dialogue and will no longer grunt and mutter when spoken to. Additionally, the notes found across the map will also play recordings that can be paused and replayed.
New Spells

Magic users will see their arsenal expanded with new spells arriving in the full release. The update will also introduce heavy attacks for wands. Additionally, the game’s balance has been tweaked, likely affecting parts of the skill tree.
Quality of Life Changes
- Base buildings can now be placed in the Shroud. Players can now construct base structures inside the Shroud, provided the Flame Altar itself remains outside of it.
- Chests can be upgraded directly without needing to remove the items stored within.
- Dropped resources such as pieces of wood can be collected automatically and don’t have to be picked up individually.
- Markers on the world map can be named.
- The Initial grind is reduced to make getting started simpler.
- The character creator can help give player models realistic proportions if desired.

Performance Improvements

Enshrouded’s full release is slated to make major updates to Holistic, Keen Games’ in-house engine. These include GPU and CPU optimizations, overhauled ray tracing, and faster shader compilation, which will drastically decrease the performance load of the game. Players are likely to see a boost in frame rates, better rendering of distant areas, and shorter wait times for the dreaded shader compilation.
