Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Talks About Jalen Williams’ Injury

After the game, his teammate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was asked about the injury. Appearing to hold back tears, he said he felt bad for Jalen Williams. He said:
“I just feel bad for him. Nothing more than that… We don’t have no choice. This is what we signed up for. It’s obviously going to be tough without a player like that. He’s not gone forever. He’ll be back better than ever.”
In the postgame press conference, Gilgeous-Alexander spoke about it further. He said that despite the setback, injuries like this are part of the game, also urging fans to support Williams throughout his recovery. He said:
“I mean, you gotta play the hand you’re dealt in life. It is what it is. It sucks, but it’s part of the game. And we have a team for a reason. We have guys that are ready to step in place. Make a difference out there on the floor. Hold the fort down until those guys come back. But, yeah, also support those guys in their journey.”
