Dragon Ball Unveils New Super Saiyan Blue Versions For Goku & Vegeta

Goku and Vegeta are rocking their immensely powerful Ultra forms these days, but Super Saiyan Blue is about to make a huge comeback. Super Saiyan Blue made its first appearance in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F, before going to become a staple form throughout all of DBS. Dragon Ball Super is officially debuting brand-new versions of Super Saiyan Blue for Goku and Vegeta, offering them fresh redesigns ahead of the series returning next month.

Goku and Vegeta’s new Super Saiyan Blue forms have only briefly been seen in action so far, but they look amazing, upgrading Dragon Ball Super‘s signature transformation into a real A-List design. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus premieres on October 11, 2026, and before the end of the year, Goku and Vegeta will be battling the multiverse’s most powerful opponents in their most beautiful shade of blue yet.

Super Saiyan Blue is Getting a Major Redesign

The Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Super Surge trailer showed a new glimpse at the anime’s remake of Battle of Gods, Ressureciton F, and the Universe 6 Tournament. Interestingly, a brand-new scene set during Goku and Frieza’s fight in the Golden Frieza Saga shows him powering up to Super Saiyan God, not Super Saiyan Blue. SSB does show up later, however, during Vegeta and Goku’s battle with Hit at the end of the tournament.

Rearrange the covers into the correct Japanese release order.

Super Saiyan Blue has been recolored and redesigned to be considerably less garish. In the original Dragon Ball Super anime, Super Saiyan Blue has a bright, almost sick blue tint to the hair, while the body gets completely washed out by the aggressive CG aura. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus has deeply darkened the blue in Goku and Vegeta’s hair, while softening the body of the aura, so the character models can be clearly seen, while the Ki is still visibly projecting around them.

Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken is Back & Looking Better Than Ever

Notably, Goku and Vegeta’s versions of Super Saiyan Blue are actually subtly different in design now. The blue in Vegeta’s SSB is softer, while Goku’s is much darker in his base form (but lighter when combined with the red with the effects of Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken). Dragon Ball Super: Beerus also marks Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken’s first appearance since Goku failed using it against Jiren during the Tournament of Power.

Goku will be using Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken against Hit in the Tournament of Destroyers, instead of regular SSB like in the Dragon Ball Super manga. This also confirms that Akira Toriyama’s original outline for Dragon Ball Super included Goku using Kaioken against Hit, as the whole point behing the remake it to make the series more faithful to Toriyama’s vision, just like what Dragon Ball Kai did for Dragon Ball Z.
