Black Clover Season 3 Officially Cancelled In New Update

Black Clover Season 2 officially revived the series after a 5-year-long and tedious hiatus. Yet, despite this new revival in October 2026, we are bidding farewell to the series far earlier than previously anticipated. While fans previously assumed Black Clover Season 2 would only cover the Spade Kingdom Raid arc as well as the Hino Country arc, the current pace of the season indicates otherwise. With Studio Pierrot adapting around 4 to 5 manga chapters per episode and with 26 total releases on the way, Black Clover is set to end with its second installment.

As things stand, Black Clover chapter 392 is set to be adapted as part of Season 2, which means that the story is ending here and that the third season for the series, which many fans wanted, is being cancelled. After years of amazing battles, Black Clover anime will see its conclusion either in 2027 or 2028.

The Black Clover anime, which was aired globally on Crunchyroll, went on hiatus in 2021 after the release of Episode 170. The main reason why the series was forced to go on hiatus was due to the manga by Yuki Tabata, which it had almost caught up with. At the same time, Studio Pierrot was undergoing some major restructuring, and all things combined forced the anime on a long hiatus. With that being said, at Jump Festa 2025, the return of Black Clover was officially announced by Studio Pierrot.

Now, over a year later, we’ve witnessed the debut of Black Clover Season 2, the latest installment of the series. This new Black Clover Season kickstarted on October 3, 2026 with its first episode, which brought us to the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc’s main action.

Since the debut of the first episode, we’ve been treated to the release of four more episodes, bringing us to the latest Black Clover Season 2 Episode 5, released on October 31, 2026. So far, with each new release, we’ve seen consistent pacing. Studio Pierrot, the giant behind Black Clover, has been adapting what would equate to around 4 to 5 chapters per episode. Here is the exact breakdown of every episode so far:

  • Black Clover Season 2, Episode 1, released on October 3, adapted 4.5 chapters from 270 to around 275. It showcased the true beginning of the raid on Spade to save Yami and prevent the opening of the Gates of the Tree of Qilpoth.
  • Black Clover Season 2 Episode 2, which premiered October 10, adapted 4 chapters from 275 to 279. Yuno’s new transformation stole the show in this release.
  • Black Clover Season 2 Episode 3, which was released on October 17, took on 4.5 chapters and brought to life chapters 280 to 284 as Asta’s new Devil Union set the stage for the battles to come.
  • Black Clover Season 2 Episode 4 from October 24 covered 4 chapters. With Nacht’s backstory and a new battle, we saw the adaptation of chapters 285 to 289.
  • The latest Episode 5 adapted 4 chapters in total. The full battle of Dante versus Magna and other conflicts were brought to life, spanning Chapters 290 to 294 of the manga.

This pattern is likely to continue with episode 6 and all the releases moving forward.

Black Clover’s Pacing And Final Season Label Confirms Season 2 Will Wrap Up The Story

Adapting 4 to 5 chapters per episode is definitely not something that would be considered ideal for most anime series. Typically, as a rule of thumb, the perfect pacing for 20-minute episodes is around 3-3.5 manga chapters’ worth of content. Black Clover is clearly over that, but since the content adapted is incredibly battle-heavy, it doesn’t impact the pacing and flows perfectly.

As things stand, Black Clover Season 2 will comfortably adapt the entire manga within the remaining episodes. The pacing itself isn’t an issue, but what especially confirms Black Clover Season 2 being the end of the road for the series is the seasonal title. Based on information revealed to us via TV Tokyo, Black Clover Season 2 is going to have a total of 26 episodes split over 2 cours. On top of that, the second cour carries the label of “Final Season,” which confirms that Yuki Tabata’s story is going to be wrapped up in this very installment.

For context, Black Clover’s manga ended in chapter 392, which was released officially on May 1, 2026, in Jump GIGA’s Spring edition. In addition, an extra chapter was released on August 4, 2026, bringing the total to 393 chapters. At the current pace of 4 to 5 chapters, 26 episodes are more than enough to cover the remaining content.

Why Black Clover Season 3 Was Cancelled

Based on everything we know, Black Clover is ending soon after its revival. While many fans had hoped for Black Clover Season 3 after the conclusion of the second season of the anime, that is, unfortunately, not going to happen. The Judgment Day arc of the series is officially set to be adapted in the second cour of the series, which means Black Clover Season 3 has been officially cancelled.

Based on the pacing, the adaptation of Judgment Day in the second part of the second season makes perfect sense, and while this might seem rushed to some fans, it works out for Studio Pierrot according to their current pacing plan and adaptation of Yuki Tabata’s work. With Judgment Day ending the season, there is no need for Season 3, and its cancellation is basically imminent.

All things considered, Black Clover Season 2 is truly the end of the road for the anime series, and its second part will also deliver the amazing epilogue that we’ve all been waiting to see the adaptation of. For now, we still don’t have an exact ending date for Black Clover. Black Clover Season 2 Part 1, covering the Spade Kingdom Raid arc, should end sometime in January 2027. Afterwards, a hiatus is likely to take place, giving Studio Pierrot more time to polish Black Clover Season 2 Part 2.

Black Clover Season 2 Part 2 is teased to return sometime in 2027. It might reach its ending either the very same year, in 2027, or sometime in 2028. It all depends on the release date of this finale. Since Yuki Tabata currently has no plans to return with new manga content, apart from a new artbook this November, this is the end of the road for Black Clover. Naturally, this is a sad time for fans of the series who were just eager to see Asta and the team back after a 5-year-long break.

For now, we can enjoy the ongoing run of Black Clover Season 2. All episodes of Black Clover Season 2 are released weekly on Crunchyroll, every Saturday. Black Clover Season 2 Episode 6 is set to be released on November 7, 2026, covering Noelle’s exciting battle against Megicula. Fans in the U.S. can catch this episode upon its premiere at 8:00 am PT or 11:00 am ET.
