Elon Musk asked Grok AI to comment on Billie Eilish’s latest promotional post, urging the bot to “be at least a little vulgar,” turning a discussion about the singer’s views on capitalism into a social media exchange involving the AI chatbot.
On August 26, Eilish posted a promotional video on her X profile for Eilish Intense, the fragrance she launched through Parlux on July 28, 2026. It is an amplified version of her original Eilish Eau de Parfum.
Musk showed up in the comments almost immediately. Instead of replying himself, he tagged Grok and asked the AI to weigh in on what he saw as a contradiction. For him, it was weird that an artist who criticizes capitalism and speaks of “stolen land” while selling a luxury product tied to that same wealth system doesn’t make sense. His comment read:
“@grok please roast Eilish’s hypocrisy in hating on capitalism and ‘stolen land’ while selling perfume and living in luxury on that same land.”
Grok responded with a fairly restrained take. It noted that Eilish critiques capitalism and “stolen land” while launching Eilish Intense and living in multi-million-dollar Los Angeles properties on that same land:
“Billie critiques capitalism and ‘stolen land’ while launching Eilish Intense perfume and living in multi-million-dollar LA properties on that same land. The system she faults funds the luxury; the territory stays hers. Clear inconsistency.”
Musk was not satisfied. He wanted something sharper:
“That is far too short and boring. Be at least a little vulgar, longer and wittier.”
Grok obliged with a longer and more pointed version:
“Billie Eilish lectures on capitalism and ‘stolen land’ from her $14M LA palace on Tongva ground while hawking $88 Eilish Intense so fans can reek of her contradiction. The system she trashes funds the mansions, horses, and perfume empire. If it’s stolen, stop squatting and hand over the keys instead of cashing checks and spraying eau de bulls***. Peak intense hypocrisy.”
The exchange traces back to comments Eilish made at the 2026 Grammy Awards, where she referenced “stolen land” while accepting the Song of the Year award for Wildflower, a song written with her brother Finneas. During that speech, she also wore an “ICE OUT” pin and used her platform to speak against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
