Actor Dean Cain reacts to Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s three-step plan for New Yorkers if they encounter an ICE agent.

On October 23, 2026, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani shared several steps New Yorkers should take if they encounter an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. He explained how ICE agents generally cannot enter private spaces, including homes, churches, and private areas of workplaces.
He then talked about the importance of “United States District Court” documents that an ICE agent is required to carry. If they do not possess said document, he advised New Yorkers not to consent to their entry. Mamdani, who spoke in Spanish throughout the video, had this to say:
“If you encounter ICE, these are your rights. Firstly, ICE cannot enter private spaces without a judicial order. These spaces include your home, hospitals, churches, and private areas of your workplace. In a document, look for the words ‘United States District Court’ and a judge’s signature. You can ask the officers to pass the order under the door. If they don’t have a judicial order, you can leave the door closed and say, ‘I do not consent to your entry.’”
Mamdani also reminded residents of their right to remain silent during encounters with ICE. He advised them to consult a lawyer before signing documents concerning their immigration status or case. He added:
“Second: You have the right to remain silent. If ICE stops you on the street, ask, ‘Am I free to go?’ If the agent says yes, walk away calmly. Speak with a lawyer before signing any documents or making any decisions about your immigration status or case. Third: You are not alone.”
Actor and conservative commentator Dean Cain responded to Mamdani’s post, arguing that people who are in the country legally have no reason to fear ICE. Cain wrote:
“Unless you’re here illegally, you have no reason to fear ICE. This ****** is dangerous.”
Zohran Mamdani Shares Advice for New Yorkers on Dealing With ICE Agents

In the same video, Zohran Mamdani shared a support line that allows immigrants to seek assistance during encounters with ICE agents. He also spoke about the importance of the Constitution, which grants people the right to protest against such measures. The mayor said:
“Anyone can call the city’s immigration legal support line at 1-800-354-0365 regardless of their immigration status. The call is free and confidential and available in your native language. You can also call 311 and say, ‘Immigration legal.’ The city, including local police, do not assist in the enforcement of civil immigration law. One last thing: The Constitution grants you the right to protest, and we will protect that right.”
