Tesla CEO Elon Musk responds to progressive commentator Jennifer Welch’s comments about him, arguing she should “sue her plastic surgeon.”
On October 23, 2026, an X user by the name of @ThomasSowell shared a clip from an episode of Jennifer Welch’s I’ve Had It podcast in which she criticizes Elon Musk, calling him a “welfare queen.” She also accuses the Tesla CEO of receiving billions of dollars in American taxpayer money.
Calling Musk an “illegal immigrant,” Welch discusses his donation to Ken Paxton, the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate in Texas. She said:
“Billionaires should not exist. You have a man who was an illegal immigrant in the United States of America, who is a welfare queen, who gets billions of dollars… of your taxpayer money and then calls all these other Americans lazy and all this ****, right?…. He’s an illegal immigrant that all of MAGA worries about. An illegal immigrant that comes over here and takes from Americans and sucks off the taxpayer ***, it’s Elon Musk…. He’s donated $150 million to Ken Paxton… So these tech oligarchs are buying little Republican *********** with no *********.”
Musk responded to the clip by taking aim at Welch’s alleged plastic surgery, writing:
“She should sue her plastic surgeon.”
In a recent interview with The New York Times, James Talarico was asked about his controversial remarks. In response, he said that while he stands by his views, he regrets not phrasing them more clearly, allowing his political opponents to use his words in attack campaigns. He said:
“I don’t regret standing up for my constituents. I would do it again. I think what I’ve regretted is kind of how I phrased certain things because it obscured the point I was trying to make. I’ve said a lot of things in the state legislature over the course of four terms… So there’s a lot that’s said, and when you pull out maybe the most inarticulate of those things to make an attack ad, I certainly regret not articulating my position more clearly, in a more straightforward way, to say what I actually mean.”
Elon Musk reacted to a clip of the interview posted by X user @WesternLensman, calling Talarico a puppet. Musk wrote:
“Talarico is just a puppet that sometimes doesn’t work properly, but his puppet masters are quite smart.”
Musk also commented on claims that some Republican voters are switching their support to Talarico in the Senate race, writing:
“They are managing to fool moderates and even some Republicans into voting for Talarico.”
