YouTube and TikTok banned Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3 stream mid-broadcast. Find out what scene caused the shutdown.
The official Baldur’s Gate 3 third anniversary stream got banned on YouTube and TikTok on August 5, 2026. Both platforms flagged the Dark Urge playthrough by comms director and Larian Studios writer Aoife Wilson for nudity and body exposure. Ironically, Wilson was using various mods to enhance the gameplay, but it was base game content that resulted in the ban.
Specifically, it was during the intimate scene from House of Hope with the NPC Haarlep. The demonic incubus offers two ways forward. Players can either fight Haarlep or sleep with the incubus. The latter option rewards the player with a key to a hidden safe, and that is what the Larian developer chose. However, in the process of doing that, Wilson’s playthrough featured a few minutes of nudity. Reportedly, someone at Larian in charge of the stream attempted to censor the scene, but it was unsuccessful.
Moments after the scene played out, YouTube became the first platform to take down the stream. Minutes later, TikTok followed. In a post on X, Larian Studios’ head of publishing Michael Douse confirmed the reason:
“Live violation: Your LIVE ‘Larian’s Dark Urge Run: Claws’ streamed on 08/05/2026 at 12:46 PM has been discontinued because of a violation: Body Exposure and ***ualized Behaviors.”
Larian Studios is seemingly taking the ban on the chin. Under the same post, Douse joked:
“Getting banned on your birthday is such a cool & edgy thing to do.”
Aoife Wilson, who was streaming on the official Larian Studios channels across platforms, had a similar reaction. After YouTube took down the broadcast, a viewer on Twitch brought it up. Wilson then joked that the head of publishing told them that everyone involved would be let go. At the 1:39:30 mark of the stream, the developer sarcastically apologized while celebrating the ban:
“No! Artem, Head of Publishing, says we are all fired. Sorry everybody, we had a good run. We are also now banned on TikTok. Again! Yes! Everyone is so gagged because of our demon ***. Sorry!”
Later, she claimed the official Baldur’s Gate 3 stream was too hot for TikTok and YouTube. Stating that Larian Studios was staying “true to form,” Wilson noted that the broadcast was only up on Twitch:
“Too hot for YouTube and TikTok, Larian. I’m taking it as a badge of honor. I am not even mad about it, sorry. If you are just joining us, this is the official Larian stream; welcome. True to form, we have just been banned from several platforms that we are currently streaming to. Where are we even left now? Twitch! Fingers crossed.”
Platforms have banned Larian Studios before for similar reasons. Back in 2024, the devs revealed TikTok took down videos featuring the famous Halsin bear romance scene.
