Pakistani TikTok star Ayesha Gilamana has died at age 28 after two gunmen opened fire on the car she was driving in Taxila, as police detained three suspected associates for questioning.
Gilamana, whose real name was Shamsu Bibi, had amassed approximately 1.3 million TikTok followers after creating videos on the platform for three to four years. She also had 176,000 YouTube subscribers, while her TikTok account was reportedly switched to private following her death.
According to a police complaint filed by her father, Gilamana left home on August 14 with her 15-year-old sister, Asmiya Bibi, and brother, Nematullah. She had reportedly received a phone call from a man identified as Kashif, also known as Kashi, asking her to leave quickly.
Police detain suspected associates as investigation expands
Gilamana was driving near a gas station when two men on a motorcycle pulled alongside the car. The passenger allegedly opened fire, striking her in the neck and causing her to lose control of the vehicle.
The car then collided with a passing dump truck. Gilamana died inside the vehicle, while her sister was seriously injured and taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad.
A special Rawalpindi police team has since detained three people during operations in Taxila, Attock and areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, The Express Tribune reported on August 18.
The detainees are reportedly close relatives of Kashif, Kausar and Javed, the three people named in the family’s complaint. Investigators said the detained individuals had been in contact with the named suspects.
Police have also completed geofencing around the crime scene and sent Gilamana’s phone for forensic analysis. Preliminary location data reportedly placed the three named suspects in Murree at the time of the shooting, leading investigators to examine where they were and who may have been using their phones.
Gilamana’s father alleged that she had financial dealings with Kausar and Javed and had previously received death threats while attempting to recover money. He claimed that she had filed an earlier complaint in Islamabad, although police have not established a motive and the allegations against those named remain under investigation.
Fellow creator Yousaf Khan later paid tribute to Gilamana, writing: “Rest in peace, dear friend. Your memory will stay with us forever. We are seeking justice.”
Gilamana is the latest creator to be killed in a shooting in recent weeks. Mexican TikToker Cesar Gastelum was shot and killed during a Kick livestream on August 4, while a suspected cartel leader was recently arrested over the 2025 livestreamed killing of influencer Valeria Márquez.
