YouTuber JinsTravel’s final video released after fatal Bolivia hit-and-run as driver gets house arrest

Travel YouTuber JinsTravel’s final pre-recorded video has been released days after he died when a truck struck him while cycling through El Alto, Bolivia. The driver involved has since been placed under house arrest while authorities investigate the fatal collision.

Cho Jin-woo, 33, was known online as JinsTravel and had built a following of around 66,000 subscribers by documenting bicycle journeys around the world. He launched his YouTube channel in 2020 and had traveled through Europe, Africa, North America, and South America.

His latest journey began in Mexico before taking him through Peru and into Bolivia. Cho was riding through El Alto on November 4 when he was struck by a large cargo truck. Witnesses said the driver initially fled, but he was later apprehended.

JinsTravel’s final upload was already prepared

Cho’s older brother announced that the family discovered a completed video while checking the late YouTuber’s official account. It had been scheduled to upload at 6:15 p.m. Korea Standard Time on November 7.

The family described the video as a final gift to JinsTravel’s viewers. His brother wrote that he hoped fans would “share in the final gift he left behind” and remember Cho for the journeys he documented.

The video, titled “A Healing-Filled Bicycle Journey into Bolivia, Made Possible by Chance,” follows Cho as he travels through the country by bicycle. Fans reportedly flooded the upload with messages of grief after realizing it would be his final journey published on the channel.

Cho’s family has been traveling to Bolivia with assistance from the South Korean Embassy to arrange the repatriation of his remains. They have also asked viewers not to spread unverified speculation or footage related to the crash.

Driver placed under house arrest

According to El Diario, a judge ordered the 54-year-old truck driver to remain under house arrest following a pretrial hearing.

The crash happened on Avenida 6 de Marzo near El Alto’s Zona Franca. Local reports say the driver attempted to leave the scene before other transport workers pursued and stopped the truck, later handing him over to police.

The case remains under investigation as authorities work to establish exactly how the collision happened. Earlier reports said the driver claimed he did not see Cho’s bicycle, while police confirmed that a breathalyzer test found no alcohol in his system.
