Elon Musk responds to author Stephen King after the latter alleged that the Tesla CEO is afraid of James Talarico.

On October 25, 2026, Elon Musk responded to Stephen King’s accusation about his criticism of James Talarico. The Tesla CEO has often criticized the Democratic nominee over the past few days on X. Recently, he reacted to a report alleging that Talarico was an extremist. In response, Musk wrote:
“Talarico is a far-left extremist.”
Author Stephen King then responded to Musk. He said the Tesla CEO only cares about money, since he supposedly has several business operations in Texas. The “It” author also said Musk is afraid of Talarico. He wrote:
“Elon Musk is afraid of Talarico because he [Musk] has a lot of business in Texas. It has nothing to do with principles or programs; for Musk, it’s all about the Benjamins.”
Musk then responded to King, calling his thinking “pathetically stupid.” He said:
“Your mental model outside of short-sighted tribalism is pathetically stupid.”
James Talarico Criticizes Elon Musk’s Involvement in the Election

On October 23, 2026, C-SPAN posted a clip from its coverage of one of James Talarico’s campaign rallies in Texas. Talarico criticized Musk for trying to “buy this Senate seat in Texas.” He also said the richest man in the world was trying to elect Ken Paxton to the U.S. Senate.
Talarico then said that the attack campaigns against him were Musk’s doing. He said:
“Ken Paxton has the ultimate mega-donor. Elon Musk is trying to buy this Senate seat in Texas. We just found out that the richest man in the world is almost single-handedly bankrolling this effort to install Ken Paxton in the US Senate and stop the movement that we are building in our state. In all likelihood, If you’ve seen an attack ad on your screens, that was Elon. If you’ve gotten lies in your mailbox, that was Elon. If you’ve received a text message saying scary things about me with scary black-and-white photos, that was Elon, too.”
The Democratic nominee said Paxton is funded by Musk, who he claimed wants American tax dollars and his own personal senator. He said:
“Ken Paxton is funded by one dude. Elon Musk wants our land. He wants our water. He wants our tax dollars. He wants his very own personal United States Senator. He is trying to buy Texas. But on November 3rd, we are going to deliver a crystal-clear message to the world’s first trillionaire. Texas is not for sale.”
