In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, established by Gege Akutami, cursed techniques play an incredibly important role because they are a part of the primary power system. For the vast majority of the original story, Cursed Techniques paved the way for sorcerers to show off their incredible abilities and fight against any enemy standing in their path.
However, with the most recent developments in the Jujutsu Kaisen franchise, Cursed Techniques are no more, which also means that this story is officially bidding farewell to the strongest technique of all, that is, Gojo Satoru’s Limitless.
Jujutsu Kaisen Is Removing The Gojo Clan’s Limitless Cursed Technique Forever
Cursed Techniques play an incredibly important role in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. Over the years, Gege Akutami has introduced quite a lot of exciting Cursed Techniques to the story, including some basic ones such as Todo’s Boogie Woogie or Nobara’s Straw Doll Technique, to some of the most overpowered ones, such as Ryomen Sukuna’s Shrine and Gojo Satoru’s Limitless. Out of all these Cursed Techniques, the one that can be stated to be the most broken is quite easily Gojo’s Limitless. The Limitless is an inherited Cursed Technique that is also stated to be the prized possession of the Gojo clan. This Cursed Technique allows one to manipulate space itself by bringing the concept of infinity into reality, and that is why it is incredibly overpowered.
“My technique involves the convergence of an infinite series. Things that approach me slow down and never reach the target.” — Gojo explains Limitless
For many years, the Gojo Clan has held access to the Limitless Cursed Technique, but its true powers can only be brought out when paired with the Six Eyes, known to be an equally powerful trait, without which the Limitless cannot be fully utilized. After 4 long centuries, Gojo Satoru was born with both Limitless and the Six Eyes, which eventually ended up making him the strongest sorcerer of the modern era. His capabilities were seen quite clearly in the Shinjuku Showdown battle, where he went all out against Ryomen Sukuna and matched him blow for blow. Unfortunately, Gojo ended up dying in this battle, which took away the Limitless and the Six Eyes from the world once again. Given the nature of this Cursed Technique and the trait, these powers were set to return in Modulo later down the line.
“I’m going to live for another 300 or so years. I will handle whatever follows. And if necessary, I’ll bear the consequences of this great sin.” – Yuji removes cursed energy, Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo Chapter #22
Unfortunately, with the recent decision that the author has taken in Modulo Volume 3 on May 1, 2026, the Limitless Cursed Technique is now dying forever, as Cursed Techniques in general are not going to exist in Japan any longer. In Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo Chapter 22, released officially on February 16, 2026, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 12, Yuji Itadori saw to it that cursed techniques were permanently removed from all sorcerers in Japan. All those who hold cursed techniques right now will continue to have access to them, but from here onwards, no new sorcerer will be born with a cursed technique. In other words, unless someone with the Limitless and the Six Eyes was already born in the 68-year period between Shinjuku Showdown and the Modulo era, then the Limitless is officially dead and is never going to return.
To mitigate the loss of powerful Cursed Techniques such as the Limitless, Gege Akutami has established a brand-new plan, which was revealed to us in his latest release of JJK Modulo. It was confirmed in the third volume of the series that Yuji Itadori intends to create an army of Heavenly Restriction users. He, Todo, and Nobara are going to track and closely monitor all those born with the Heavenly Restriction, take them in, and start training them so that they can fight against the handful of new Cursed Spirits born in Tokyo each year.
“As for the people with a Heavenly Restriction from here on out, we’ll have to track them down, and we’ll thoroughly keep tabs on their family line. We’ll also need to preserve the cursed tools we have and mass-produce them.” — Yuji explains the future with Heavenly Restriction users, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter #25
At the same time, Yuji Itadori also intends to mass-produce the vast majority of the Cursed Tools that exist in the Gojo clan inventory. These mass-produced Cursed Tools are going to be handed to the Heavenly Restriction users, and they will then be allowed to fight any threats that arise moving forward. This is a stark change from the primary power system of the Jujutsu Kaisen world, which used to see Cursed Techniques being utilized primarily. Now, from here onwards, Cursed Techniques are no longer necessary, and Heavenly Restriction is going to be utilized instead.
Why Limitless Could Be Used With A Cursed Tool
While the Limitless Cursed Technique has technically been removed from the world forever, there could still be ways in which this technique is revived. As confirmed by Yuji Itadori himself, cursed tools will be mass-produced from here onwards, but there is no saying whether new cursed tools will be created or not. The exact process behind the creation of the cursed tools remains unknown, but some of them do possess special abilities.
For example, the Inverted Spear of Heaven, wielded previously by Toji Fushiguro, was strong enough to negate any Cursed Technique. Some others, like Split Soul Katana, damage the soul of the enemies directly, making it practically impossible for the vast majority to heal from any damage, even with Reverse Cursed Technique. These blades certainly hold special abilities, but how these abilities get imbued in them remains unknown. In that sense, it is possible that Gege Akutami will create new powerful tools, some of which could even hold properties such as those of Limitless. Such a weapon could be enhanced with the power of Blue and Red, or perhaps even launch slashes incorporated with the power of Purple.
Obviously, this is going to be a very stark change from how we are used to seeing techniques being utilized. In a world without Cursed Techniques, Gege needs something more than just a handful of cursed tools being replicated all over Japan. In that sense, Limitless could still return in some shape or form later down the line, depending on how Gege intends to expand the lore of Jujutsu Kaisen.
“The last part is pretty bothersome. I’m gonna become a cursed object when I finally die. As you know, the aliens arrived. We don’t know what will become of the Earth later on. If people need cursed energy once again in the future, someone just has to eat me, as a cursed object!” — Yuji reveals his plan after his death, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter #25
For now, JJK is not going to return anytime soon, which is unfortunate, but the door has not been shut on the possibilities of another sequel for the story. If anything, JJK Modulo Chapter 25, which was officially released on March 9, 2026, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 15, left the door open for a new series set 300 years into the future, where Yuji Itadori has already died and a new protagonist potentially goes on to consume a cursed object with him inside. This new era might see a new power system being established through strong Cursed Tools, and we hope to see it flourish one day down the line.
