Social media users react to a TV News helicopter crash as it was covering a bus crash in Chatsworth, Los Angeles.

Recently, a TV news helicopter crashed in Chatsworth, Los Angeles. According to NBCLA, the helicopter belonged to their station and was identified as NewsChopper4. The helicopter was supposedly covering a bus crash in the area when it went down. The Los Angeles Fire Department said the fiery helicopter crash killed three people and hospitalized another. LAFD also reported that the helicopter crashed between two commercial buildings, damaging four vehicles and two storage containers.
After reports of the crash broke out, social media users took to the internet to react to the incident involving the helicopter. They wrote:
“Why are helicopters out doing this? We have drones now,” said X user @SamFisher10k.
“The worst part of this isn’t the footage. It’s watching a newsroom lose contact with its own helicopter while still on air covering the scene. There were 2 crashes in the same neighborhood and in the same hour,” wrote @PRicanHulkSmash on X.
“Think it’s cheaper and safer to use drones moving forward,” commented X user @ibottsla.
“So at what point will we be using non manned aircraft’s for this stuff? We already got drones that can do this stuff,” stated @lesathking on X.
“That footage must have been terrifying for everyone watching live,” wrote @sabaideesana on X.

Los Angeles Fire Department Shares Update on TV News Helicopter Crash
A Los Angeles Fire Department official was interviewed following reports of the crash. He explained that authorities were receiving updates as they continued to investigate the incident. He also revealed that the fire spread to the exterior of nearby commercial buildings but did not enter the buildings. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“We do have one confirmed patient that seems to be outside of the helicopter when it crashed…. We’re still looking through the wreckage, it was fully involved in fire when we arrived, as well as several other vehicles that it crashed next to. It was also exposing the commercial building, but the fire did not extend into the building.”
