Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker has once again found himself in the spotlight after saying America is worse than Al-Qaeda.
On September 17, 2026, a 54-second video from Piker’s appearance on The Axios Show surfaced on X.
In it, Axios’ national political correspondent Alex Thompson brought up the streamer’s comments about the United States being a “top dog in terrorism.”
Thompson stated:
“You once said that America is the top dog in terrorism. Do you think America is then worse than Al-Qaeda?”
In response, Hasan Piker said that the United States of America had “caused tremendous terror all around the world”:
“Yes. Pound for pound, as far as the number of deaths, yes. We have caused tremendous terror all around the world. I think that that is not only terror that we are waging on regular civilians and the nations in the periphery, but it’s also having consequences on ourselves. It’s having dramatic consequences on the home front.”
The Twitch streamer then elaborated on what he described as a “clear example” of his beliefs, saying:
“One clear example of this is what we did in Minab. Right? There is no distinction between blowing up a school, triple tapping it with Tomahawk missiles. If you’re killing 140 schoolgirls, that is an act of terror. This doesn’t mean that all Americans are terrorists, but the reality of the matter is we have to create an environment of accountability to ensure things like that never happen again.”

During a Twitch stream on September 17, 2026, Hasan Piker stated that it “probably” would have been “better” if he “didn’t do” the Axios interview.
Furthermore, the Los Angeles-based personality claimed that it “certainly would have been better” if he didn’t say the aforementioned “pound for pound” statement about the United States being worse than Al-Qaeda:
“First and foremost, it would have probably been better if I just didn’t do the interview at all. Having said that, it certainly would have been better if I didn’t say pound for pound.
