Valve has excluded a week of Dead by Daylight reviews from the game’s Steam score after it was review bombed over the TheBurntPeanut controversy.
Reviews posted between November 1 and November 6 are now marked as off-topic on the game’s Steam page, pushing its recent rating back up to Mostly Positive after it dropped to Mixed.
Thousands of Dead by Daylight reviews excluded
The page now shows an asterisk next to the game’s score, noting that Valve had detected an unusual amount of review activity during that period unrelated to the game itself.
Thousands of reviews were wiped from the score. Negative reviews during that week came from both sides of the controversy, with some players criticizing Behaviour for working with TheBurntPeanut and others coming from the streamer’s fans.
Valve has used its off-topic review system since 2019. When it detects a spike in reviews unrelated to the game, it flags that window and leaves those reviews out of the score by default. Players can still choose to include them manually.
At the time of writing, Dead by Daylight sits at around 78% positive overall from almost 950,000 reviews, according to SteamDB.
Behaviour removed TheBurntPeanut’s free DLC
The reviews poured in after Behaviour Interactive gifted TheBurntPeanut every Dead by Daylight DLC during a livestream on October 30, sparking backlash from parts of the community.
The situation escalated after the game’s official account replied “WE CAN TAKE THE HEAT!” when the streamer offered to give the content back.
On November 3, Behaviour removed the gifted DLC, admitting the decision had skipped its usual internal checks and that it had “moved too fast.”
“This incident has broken trust with our community,” the developer said, adding that it is rewriting its creator guidelines and “taking appropriate action internally” with the staff involved.
