Twitch ambassador Steven Spohn has questioned the platform’s enforcement after a clip appeared to show ExtraEmily reading chat while driving, with other major streamers renewing calls for Twitch to crack down on distracted driving broadcasts.
Spohn, who identifies himself as a Twitch Ambassador, quote-tweeted a 42-second clip uploaded by Bloom on September 10. The footage appears to show ExtraEmily in the driver’s seat while the car is moving. She looks down several times as chat messages warn her to watch the road and stop reading.
No collision is visible in the clip. However, Spohn said viewers could see her swerve and questioned Twitch’s response to creators who continue driving while broadcasting.
“I’ll be honest: as a Twitch ambassador myself, I have no idea what I’m supposed to say here,” Spohn wrote. He later asked, “What’s the point of trying anymore?” while criticizing Twitch’s enforcement.
Other streamers renew calls for driving crackdown
The clip quickly drew attention from other Twitch creators. Tectone posted, “STOP F***ING DRIVING ON STREAM,” while a clip shared by Prism showed Asmongold discussing the controversy.
Asmongold said he had previously “complained to Twitch privately” about distracted driving streams. He argued that creators should be able to stream from a car only when someone else is driving, adding that “if you’re the streamer, you can’t be the driver.”
The reaction follows a long-running debate over IRL content on Twitch. In June, ExtraEmily was suspended after a separate broadcast appeared to show her looking away from the road while changing lanes and narrowly avoiding another vehicle. Twitch restored her channel roughly 24 hours later. She had also received previous driving-related suspensions in 2023 and 2025, according to Dexerto.
Twitch’s current Community Guidelines state that dangerous or distracted driving is never acceptable. The rules specifically prohibit reading chat or touching a streaming device while driving, although hands-free in-car broadcasts are allowed.
The latest backlash also echoes the response on Reddit and among Twitch creators following ExtraEmily’s June suspension. A discussion on r/LivestreamFail was dominated by calls for Twitch to ban driving streams, while some viewers argued that creators should use a hired driver or disable chat interaction instead.
I did not find a public response from ExtraEmily to Spohn’s latest post during the search. That should be checked again immediately before publication.
