However, along with a new website and a press release, the company has revealed that the packaging will now show the red cow donning a straight face.
“We need to talk,” the packaging reads
The special packages are available in more than 4,700 across every state in the US. On the front cover, the frowning cow is accompanied by a QR code that directs customers to TheNotLaughingCow.com, where they can investigate the mystery further.
The website features two videos. One depicts the cow alone in a diner, looking forlornly out the window, and the other shows it sitting alone on a swing set. The videos and the website’s homepage read: “After more than 100 years, The Laughing Cow has stopped laughing. We need to talk.”
In a press release, Jamee Pearlstein, Chief Marketing Officer of Bel Brands, US Cheese, said: “The Laughing Cow has spent more than 100 years reminding us not to take life too seriously. So when she suddenly gets serious, you pay attention. Whatever finally got to her must be worth talking about. We’ll let her explain when she’s ready.”
At the time of writing, no official reason has been given as to why The Laughing Cow has stopped laughing, but the company has encouraged customers to await more news on social media.
