Take-Two Issues New Official Statement on GTA 6 PC Release

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has given a new official update on the prospects of a GTA 6 PC release. While Rockstar and Take-Two initially announced GTA 6 as a console exclusive for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, gamers are still hoping for a PC release.

It should come as little surprise that Rockstar has not confirmed a GTA 6 PC release date from the start. Historically, the developer has always released games on PC much later than on console – GTA 5 took 19 months, while Red Dead Redemption 2 was just over a year before it finally landed on the platform. Because a Rockstar title’s release is such a major event, skipping PC at launch will lead many to dust off their consoles and buy the game right away, then grab it again when it finally comes to PC. And GTA 6 is expected to be the biggest video game launch of all time, even without PC, so there are obvious benefits for the company to tempt players to double dip.

Take-Two Boss Says PC is “Becoming More and More Important” Over Time

During Take-Two’s most recent shareholders meeting, CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about GTA 6‘s PC release, and he responded with an encouraging update without actually acknowledging the game itself. “The strategy of the company is over time, generally speaking, to launch for any platforms for which there’s a meaningful audience,” Zelnick explained. “But that isn’t always the case, and certainly if platforms were no longer viable, we would change that strategy. And I would note that the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time.”

It’s not direct confirmation that GTA 6 is coming to PC, as is widely assumed, but it definitely stands as an encouraging update on the prospect. After all, PC certainly has a “meaningful audience,” given that some project software spending on the platform to overtake console spending by 2028. And with Zelnick asserting PC’s increasing importance to Take-Two, it’s difficult to imagine a scenario where GTA 6 doesn’t launch on the platform in the future.

…if platforms were no longer viable, we would change that strategy. And I would note that the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time.

When is The GTA 6 PC Release Date?

It does feel like, with GTA 6 on PC, it’s a matter of when, not if. Zelnick’s statements offer a lot of hope in this regard, and the reports back it up. One recent report claimed that GTA 6 on PC may launch much sooner than anticipated, largely because of the hardware availability and price crisis, where consoles are actually going up in price deep into their life cycle rather than down. GTA 6‘s PC release date is unknown right now, but hopefully it won’t be long before Take-Two or Rockstar is ready to reveal it.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is just two months away, and Rockstar’s marketing for the game is set to ramp up significantly. The developer has seemingly struck a deal to plaster GTA 6 marketing material across Miami Beach, which would show that no expense is being spared in promoting the title ahead of its November 19, 2026, release date.
