The Pokemon TCG 30th Celebration expansion is more for the collectors than the players. For context, there are 30 Pikachu cards by different artists for fans to collect from packs. Meanwhile, there are no new Trainer cards in this set at all. However, a few of them have potential to see actual meta play. So in this article, we will look at the best cards from this set that may be seen in meta decks.
These are the cards from the 30th Celebration expansion that can see use in the Pokemon TCG meta:
1) Mew Ex
Arguably the standout card of this set, Mew ex may end up in a lot of decks because of its Ability Memory Helix. This allows Mew ex to copy any of your Benched Pokemon’s attacks. While you still need the necessary Energy to do so, this is a small price to play. Especially on decks relying on Mega Evolutions, since Mew ex risks its player losing two Prize cards as opposed to three if a Mega goes down.
2) Espeon
Devolution is a common tactic in the Pokemon TCG. So Espeon’s first move Miraculous Shine can allow players to devolve their opponent’s entire side of the playmat. With the help of cards like Froslass and Munkidori constantly chipping away at their HP, the tactic is to devolve them so that the accumulated chip damage KOs multiple Pokemon.
3) Seismitoad
This card is a throwback to Seismitoad EX from Furious Fists and its first move Quaking Punch. That move had the guaranteed effect of preventing the opponent from using any Item cards on their next turn. However, this Seismitoad has the move Quaking Fist. While this deals 60 damage, which is more than Quaking Punch’s 30, its secondary effect has been reworked to be less oppressive. Quaking Fist will force the opponent to flip a coin each time they want to use any Trainer card on their next turn. If they get a tails, they will have to discard it instead of playing it. This has the potential to be disruptive while also allowing some counterplay.
