The Arka Montessori Academy is facing a $1 million or more lawsuit after a Texas couple discovered surveillance footage of a teacher turning it into a fight club. Rather than a safe space to learn and mingle with fellow children, Heather and Richard Harris found the opposite. The Texas couple intervened after their 4-year-old son was moved to another classroom with other kids on April 27, 2026.

In the same afternoon, the 4-year-old was attacked by another student. The aggressor was the son of Chynia Johnson, another staff member of the daycare. Instead of correcting her child, she encouraged the two children to keep hitting each other. The parents of the 4-year-old victim arrived to pick him up and saw him crying from his injuries. Staff convinced them it was a recent fight that they had just broken up, but surveillance footage shows otherwise.

According to a report from FOX 4, Johnson also got physical after the 4-year-old retaliated against her son. Another teacher was also present, witnessed the horrific acts, and did nothing to stop them. Heather Harris recalled seeing her son that day and was shocked that a teacher would encourage this kind of behavior.

“Nothing prepared me for seeing my child aggressively handled and attacked by another child at a teacher’s orders,”

As a mother, Heather expressed her disappointment in how she had trusted the daycare with her son’s safety.

“My heart just shattered into pieces because I couldn’t be there to protect my son from being harmed, all while he was being cared for by a daycare that I trusted.”

At the moment of writing, the daycare confirmed Johnson has been terminated. The over $1 million lawsuit is for compensation and other related damages caused by the fight club incident.
