On October 13, 2026, the French publication L’Humanité uploaded a video on X covering Greta Thunberg. Amid the ongoing nationwide protests in France, Thunberg attended, showing her support for the students. She said she is “incredibly proud” of the students, who are “leading by example.” Thunberg also noted the importance of such protests at a time when society is neglecting young people.

She also accused the French police of being violent, alongside criticizing politicians who she said were reacting as if “something unexpected” had taken place. She said:

“I’m incredibly proud of the French students. Young people over the world, especially in France, are leading by example, showing what young people all over the world should do because young people are being neglected. What do you expect young people to do? Of course we’re gonna revolt. Of course we’re gonna rise up. So, it should’ve been expected, and the police are now meeting it with such violence, and politicians are meeting it as if it’s something unexpected or that young people are destroying things.”

Thunberg also took a stance in favor of students, workers, and immigrants who, according to her, must “stand united.” She also spoke out against police brutality in France amid the riots, claiming that they are protecting an “already extremely violent business.” She said:

“Just shows that they’re living in a completely different reality. All the movements need to be united, whether it’s students movement, workers’ movement, migrants’ rights movement, the climate movement; we all need to stand united… The police are extremely violently protecting our already extremely violent business as usual. Just shows everything about them and who they are really protecting. They are supposed to be protecting young people.”

In an interview clip posted by Euronews, Greta Thunberg spoke about the protests. She said politicians are excluding young people from the conversation, and she criticized the country’s underfunding of schools. Furthermore, she claimed that “the future is being robbed” and had this to say:

“Young people are not being included in the conversation. Our future is being robbed away from us. And as we’ve seen here, schools are not getting investments that they need, which, I mean, it just gives a signal to the young people that you are not prioritized in our society, and what are we supposed to do then? Just give up? Of course not. So, that’s what the people are doing here, saying that ‘we are not going to give up and we are going to fight for that future that is being robbed in front of us, in front of our very eyes.’”
