Hasan Piker has criticized Zohran Mamdani, saying that “he’s not up to the task given the way he’s operating.”

On September 30, 2026, X user @Awk20000 posted a two-minute-49-second video from Piker’s recent Just Chatting livestream. In it, the 35-year-old reacted to a video in which Nithya Raman appeared to call him out for his “incredibly hateful remarks.”

In response to Nithya Raman’s statements, Hasan Piker said:

“‘Incredibly hateful remarks.’ Incredibly hateful remarks? And then she, of course, presents it as, like, anti-Black and, you know, racist. And Nithya, you can’t turn around and be like, ‘I’m not going to go on a ******* racist neo-N**i show, and Hasan is not a racist neo-N**i; he is an anti-racist, as a matter of fact.’ This is the thing we have to, like, eventually combat. It’s not the right time right now, and Nithya is not the right person to do this, obviously.”

Piker then brought up Zohran Mamdani, who, according to him, is “not up to the task given the way he’s operating” as New York City’s mayor:

“If there is one guy who could do it, it’s Zohran Mamdani, and given how he’s conducted so far on to this issue in New York City, I doubt that’s ever going to happen. Let’s be real. But if there’s one person who has the charisma and the social capital to be able to parse through these ridiculous conversations, it’s him. Clearly, even he’s not up to the task given the way he’s operating.”

Furthermore, the content creator stated that “people do not believe Israel is a moral country anymore for good reason”:

“Okay? But eventually, we will move the needle in that direction. We will, once again, and I promise you, because this is just the last retaliatory effort from institutions that have enjoyed tremendous amounts of persuasive power over the last couple of decades. They cannot grasp with the reality that there is a total sea change on this issue. People do not believe Israel is a moral country anymore for good reason.”

Hasan Piker Explains Why He’s “Actively Criticizing” Zohran Mamdani

The livestream continued, with Piker’s attention being drawn to a live viewer who stated that Zohran Mamdani was “catching passive strays.”

In response, the Turkish-American personality explained why he was “actively criticizing” Mamdani:

“‘Zohran catching passive strays here.’ Of course, he’s going to catch passive strays. I mean, the anti-Semitism task force rollout has, in my opinion, been a spectacular disaster. Okay? And we’re going to be talking about that. And there are certain things that he could have done to, maybe, manage the situation a little bit more. But, you know, it’s not a passive Zohran critique; it’s an active Zohran critique. We have to also hold those in our movement that get elected into positions of power to account. If we don’t do that, then they are going to continue to lean into other, more powerful organizations.”
