KFC has made its breakfast debut with a limited-edition chicken-flavored cereal that swaps milk for the chain’s iconic gravy.
The fried chicken giant is no stranger to unusual food combinations, having previously turned its gravy into ice cream and even released a fried chicken-flavored toothpaste.
Now, KFC UK has teamed up with high-protein cereal brand Surreal for “KFCereal,” a savory breakfast inspired by its Original Recipe chicken.
The crunchy cereal is flavored with KFC’s famous blend of 11 herbs and spices. However, instead of pouring milk into the bowl, customers are encouraged to cover it in KFC gravy.
How to buy KFC’s chicken-flavored cereal
KFCereal is available exclusively through Surreal’s UK website from September 22 while supplies last. Each box costs £6, including shipping.
Despite its fast food inspiration, the cereal contains 19 grams of protein and just one gram of sugar.
“Our 11 herbs and spices have been doing a pretty good job on chicken, so we thought we’d see what they could do for breakfast,” KFC brand manager Elspeth Allen said.
“We wanted to take something people know and love and give it the KFC treatment. And what better way to do that than with a bowl of cereal and a pot of our iconic Gravy?”
The company describes KFCereal as a breakfast for KFC superfans, adventurous cereal eaters and anyone willing to replace their usual milk with gravy.
For now, the collaboration appears to be limited to the UK, with no announced plans for a wider release.
KFC has continued to experiment with eye-catching menu creations around the world. KFC China recently unveiled an Oreo chicken burger with a cookie bun, while the chain also launched a Simpsons menu featuring a donut burger and Squishee-inspired drink.
