KFC is releasing an Oreo chicken burger with a cookie bun

KFC and Oreo are reversing their bizarre fried chicken cookie crossover with a new burger featuring Oreo-style buns, mashed potatoes covered in crushed cookies, and a fried chicken fillet.

KFC and Oreo are taking their sweet and savory partnership to another level with a burger unlike anything else on the fast-food chain’s menu.

Earlier in August, the brands teamed up to turn KFC’s Original Recipe fried chicken into an Oreo flavor. Now, Oreo is making its way inside a KFC chicken sandwich.

The Oreo Original Recipe Chicken Burger reportedly features a fried chicken thigh fillet and mashed potatoes covered in crushed Oreo pieces. Everything is sandwiched between two black, Oreo-flavored buns designed to resemble the cookie’s chocolate wafers.

Despite their appearance, the buns are still made from bread rather than two oversized cookies.

KFC’s Oreo chicken burger launches in China

KFC China announced the burger on Weibo, describing the unusual combination as a collision of sweet and savory flavors.

The Oreo chicken burger will arrive at KFC restaurants across China on August 28. Promotional material also shows the sandwich being served with one of the brands’ Original Recipe chicken-flavored Oreo cookies.

KFC has not revealed how long the burger will remain available or whether it could eventually reach restaurants outside China.

The menu item comes just weeks after KFC China began selling whole watermelons alongside a special roasted chicken combo.

Oreo has also been busy experimenting with savory flavors in the US. The company recently launched Chicken & Waffles, Banana Pudding, and Deep Fried Oreos, with customers voting to decide which one returns in 2027.

For now, anyone hoping to try KFC’s black Oreo burger will need to be in China when it arrives later this month.
