The internet is rallying behind a Red Baron employee who lost his temper after being targeted by an Instagram prankster, with supporters raising thousands of dollars to help him.
The incident took place inside a grocery store, where the employee was stocking frozen pizzas when a content creator approached him for a prank.
In the video, the prankster pretended to steal money using the worker’s phone.
However, the employee wasn’t amused, and the situation quickly escalated as he confronted the prankster for bothering him while he was trying to work.
In the viral footage, the visibly frustrated man explains that he was supposed to be home an hour ago, and has to wake up at 5 AM to do ten more stores.
“You’re probably making money off of this, I can’t even pay my goddamn mortgage! And I got four kids at home. So not funny!” the man roared.
The footage was watermarked with the Instagram handle @thea.ctiveworld, also known as ‘ThreeOfAKind’ but the account appears to have been deactivated at the time of writing.
Internet raises thousands for Red Baron employee after prank
As the footage spread across social media sites like X and Reddit, viewers overwhelmingly sided with the worker, criticizing the pranksters for targeting someone simply trying to make a living.
“The most valid crash out I have ever seen. Nicest man until this punk pushed him over the edge,” one viewer commented.
“This is how the sequel to Falling Down begins,” another joked, referencing the 1993 film starring Michael Douglas.
Others were more serious about the situation.
“Bro some of you pranksters need to chill sometimes. Not everyone thinks sh*t is funny. I felt for this guy ngl. Some of these kids don’t even know what it means to make sacrifices or even let alone work a full time job,” another wrote.
“It’s gonna end real bad for these pranksters. That Red Baron guy is a man under real world pressure and some prick playing pranks on him about stealing money that this guy barely has,” someone else chimed in.
The backlash comes as disruptive social media pranks continue to face scrutiny. Earlier in 2026, TikTok prankster Heston James pleaded guilty to criminal impersonation after filming stunts at businesses including Chipotle.
Red Baron employee reportedly “blown away” by donations
Meanwhile, a supporter named Luke Oakenshield launched a fundraiser to help the Red Baron worker, raising over $20,000 from 170 GoFundMe donations as of October 28.
The organizer expressed concerns that the employee could lose his job over the confrontation and hopes the donations can provide some financial security.
Oakenshield, who goes by ‘WereTheBrews’ on Reddit, revealed that he found the employee and had video chatted with him.
“He and his family are requesting privacy at this time, and are blown away with what is happening,” Oakenshield revealed. “I video chatted with him and his partner on WhatsApp for a bit, and it is absolutely him. F**king win of a day.”
He followed this up with an update on the GoFundMe: “Walt Z out of Michigan sends a heartfelt thank you, and is absolutely blown away by how much people have cared over this. GoFundMe is taking the lead in transferring all of this to him. You’re all Rockstars, and it shows.”
It’s unclear if the employee is facing any sort of discipline for lashing out at the prankster, but with $20K and counting, it seems like the Red Baron staffer and his family will have a good Thanksgiving ahead of them.
