While using the boat to explore Meigu Lake, you will come across an icy field with a small entrance in the middle. Pass through it and reach the Bell, then continue ahead to find a mirror near the Four Guardians’ Mirror Bell.
Depending on when you visit, you may not be able to interact with it because you need to meet several requirements first. This guide covers how to remove the barrier and enter the secret area.

How to Get All Acolyte Masks in Phantom Blade Zero
To unlock the Frozen Mirror, you will need to complete the relevant objectives for Secrets at the Heart of the Lake. This involves finding four Scarecrows and defeating the hidden bosses they summon to obtain their Acolyte Masks.
1. Get Yanryu’s Blazing Mask in Village of Lu
The first accessible Scarecrow is in the Village of Lu, near the Engine Giant Remains Bell in the northern part of the region. The Scarecrow will be marked on your map, making it easy to locate. Once you reach it, defeat the Puppet enemy nearby and interact with the Scarecrow to initiate a fight against Acolyte Yanryu. Defeat the boss to obtain Yanryu’s Blazing Mask.
2. Get Leiting’s Thunder Mask in Pangzhen
The second Scarecrow is in Pangzhen, and you will need the Flaming Mane (Phantom Edge) to reach the area. Once you have unlocked it, make your way to the southwest part of the map, where you will find the Slums. Look for the Scarecrow near Old Man Gen’s House Bell. Interact with it to fight Acolyte Lei Ting. Defeating the boss rewards you with Leiting’s Thunder Mask.
3. Get Guhe’s Venom Mask in Meigu Village
The third Scarecrow is located in Meigu Village, near the Meigu Village East Dock. After docking, interact with the Bell and make your way to the far eastern end of the island. You will find the Scarecrow there. Interact with it to start the fight against Acolyte Guhe, then defeat the boss to obtain Guhe’s Venom Mask.
4. Get Hansui’s Frost Mask and Both Crystal Puppet Eyes

The final mask requires access to Crimson Manor in Weeping Creek Valley. To enter the manor, you will need to find and enter three portals located near the second-to-last boss arena in Village of Lu, the final boss arena in Mandate Encampment, and the final boss arena in Mountain of Imprisonment.
After finding and entering all three portals, talk to the puppet inside to receive the Crystal Puppet Eye [Yin] and Puppet’s Tongue. Take these items to Crimson Manor and use the Tongue to unlock the door.

Make your way into the depths of the manor to fight Puppet Scavenger and Acolyte Hansui. Once both enemies are defeated, you will receive the Alloyed Scythe Blade (Soul Tempering Material), Crystal Puppet Eye [Yang], and Hansui’s Frost Mask.

With all four masks and both Crystal Puppet Eyes in your possession, return to the Frozen Mirror on Meigu Lake. Interact with the mirror to remove the barrier and open the way into the Phantom Illusionist Ruins. This area is optional and not tied to the main story, but will heavily impact the ending of the game.
