Huge GTA 6 leak shows first-person gameplay despite Rockstar ruling it out at launch

A massive new GTA 6 leak showed off first-person driving and exploration, despite Rockstar previously saying the game won’t launch with a full first-person mode.

The footage surfaced on October 8 as part of a new leak from the notorious ‘Cyberleek’ containing approximately 25 minutes of gameplay.

Alongside driving sequences viewed from inside the vehicle, the footage shows Jason walking around outside a car from a first-person perspective. That suggests the camera option in this build extends beyond simply aiming a weapon.

However, that doesn’t necessarily mean Rockstar has changed its launch plans.

GTA 6 leak raises questions over first-person mode

During an August preview with Davy Jones, Rockstar North’s Rob Nelson explained that GTA 6 would not feature a complete first-person mode, with development focused on third-person animations.

Players would still be able to use a first-person perspective when aiming certain weapons, according to the Flow Games preview. That distinction leaves room for some first-person functionality without making the entire game playable through Jason or Lucia’s eyes.

The latest footage raises the possibility that Rockstar experimented with a broader camera option during development. Its presence in a leaked build, however, does not establish whether it will be available in the finished game.

Cyberleek previously released gameplay, map images and cutscenes ahead of Rockstar’s Netflix Extended Look, with clips showing basketball, combat, police chases, unannounced music, and much more.

This latest batch has also attracted attention for footage showing Jason completely naked during gameplay and cutscenes, while Lucia appears topless but still wearing bottoms. Those details could also change before release as Rockstar is still actively working on the game.

Rockstar had not publicly addressed the October 8 leak at the time of writing, but fans may want to be wary of story spoilers floating around from now until GTA VI releases on November 19.
