Twitch streamer Hasan Piker faced boos from his audience after stating that “America does not deserve 9/11.”
Hasan Piker, also known online as HasanAbi, faced boos from the audience at the latest stop on his Fear& LIVE tour in Portland on August 23, 2026.
Piker appeared at Keller Auditorium as part of the Fear& West Coast Tour alongside his Fear& co-hosts Will Neff, QTCinderella, and AustinShow. The Portland event was officially scheduled for Sunday night at the venue, with the show featuring the group’s usual mix of conversations, debates, and audience interaction.
During the show, Piker reportedly made the statement:
“America does not deserve 9/11. That’s fine if you think now.”
Clips from the moment began circulating on X late Sunday and into the early hours of Monday, with portions of the audience appearing to boo the political streamer.
There was also reported activist activity outside the Portland venue that night. Moreover, the Portland appearance was another notable stop on a tour that has already produced several unusual moments involving Piker.
Earlier in the West Coast run, during the San Francisco show on August 21, Piker led members of the audience in a mocking performance of the “We Are Charlie Kirk” song. Videos from that incident showed members of the crowd joining in while Piker sang along, with his co-hosts reacting on stage.
Piker’s latest comment that “America does not deserve 9/11” has drawn attention because of its connection to a controversial remark he made nearly seven years ago.
In August 2019, Piker was livestreaming while reacting to then-Rep. Dan Crenshaw’s appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast. During the discussion, Piker criticized U.S. foreign policy and said that “America deserved 9/11,” arguing that the country had helped create conditions that led to the attacks:
“This guy has the understanding of foreign policy of like a 12-year-old, what the f***. What the f*** is wrong with this dude? Didn’t he go to war and, like, literally lose his eye because of some soldier that f***** his eyeball with his d***?… America deserved 9/11, dude. F*** it, I’m going to say it.”
He later walked back the wording and described the statement as inappropriate and even deleted the stream in which he made that comment.
That old comment has resurfaced in the 2026 Michigan Senate race. Piker supported Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed earlier this month, leading Republicans and other critics to bring up his past remarks.
On August 21, 2026, at a rally in Myrtle Beach held to support Sen. Lindsey Graham, President Donald Trump also targeted El-Sayed by bringing up Piker’s controversial 2019 comment:
“He recently campaigned with a communist fanatic who says that America deserved 9/11. We deserved it, right? We deserved all that death, destruction.”
Piker’s latest wording during his August 23 Fear& LIVE show in Portland has therefore attracted renewed attention.
