DoorDash is giving college students a free year of DashPass with $0 delivery fees

DoorDash is offering eligible college students a full year of DashPass for free, but only if they claim the limited-time deal before October 12.

The offer is part of DoorDash’s new “Don’t Fan for Free” college football campaign, which also includes weekly discounts, prizes, and tailgate events across the United States.

According to DoorDash, the free Student DashPass offer is available to college students nationwide. However, its support page clarifies that it is limited to eligible students who are not already subscribed to DashPass.

Students have until October 12, 2026, to sign up. Anyone who misses the deadline can still subscribe to the standard Student DashPass plan for $4.99 per month plus tax.

The promotion comes as DoorDash closes in on processing one billion orders every three months, following a 27% year-over-year increase in orders during the first quarter of 2026.

How to claim a free year of Student DashPass

Students can claim the offer through the Student DashPass signup page or by selecting “Free Student DashPass for 1 year” from the discounted plans menu.

Applicants must verify their enrollment through SheerID by providing their name, school, date of birth, and student email address. If automatic verification fails, students may be asked to submit a transcript, class schedule, tuition receipt, or another school-issued document.

The free membership includes $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders, 5% credit on qualifying pickup orders, 5% to 10% off eligible Lyft rides, and access to exclusive promotions.

There is one important catch. The offer is structured as a $0 monthly membership for 12 months, rather than a free annual plan. Canceling early will cause the benefits to expire at the end of that month.

After the free year ends, the subscription will automatically become a paid Student DashPass plan costing $4.99 per month plus tax. If SheerID determines that a member is no longer enrolled, it will instead transition to the standard $9.99 monthly plan unless canceled.

The free offer comes as DoorDash has been experimenting with some new options, including selling video games.
