There are plenty of weapons and armor to get in Blood of Dawnwalker, and while some of the best gear in the game are locked behind lengthy quests, there are some that you can get pretty early on. Despite having supernatural powers, Coen still needs good equipment to fight back against Brencis’ tyrannical rule, and if you want to get the possbile start in Blood of Dawnwalker, here are a couple of legendary weapons you can get for very little effort.
Durandal Legendary Sword
You can technically get the legendary Durandal sword right after you finish the prologue, but it’ll be risky, especially if you’re playing on higher difficulties. This sword is found in a destroyed wagon under the broken bridge southwest of Laslea. Go to the spot marked on the map above, and once you reach the broken bridge, either go to the east and enter the crack from there, or use Clawride at night time to safely slide down the rock wall.
Durandal is in the wrecked wagon surrounded by corpses. However, once you land, a group of monsters will appear and immediately lock you in combat. You have only a few seconds to get the sword before you get attacked, and once you do get jumped by monsters, you can run away to the eastern edge of the crack to escape.
Durandal comes with the following stats:
- +Damage Against Supernatural Enemies
- -Attack Stamina Cost
- -Dodge Stamina Cost
- -Swordmastery Ability Cooldown
This sword is easily the best one you can get early in Blood of Dawnwalker. It’s free, has good stats, and comes with a three-hit Weapon Art that’s on a 15-second cooldown. I got Durandal at level 16, and at that point, I was able to beat the monsters at the bottom of the bridge on Fair difficulty without any trouble.
Wolven Bracers
While these technically aren’t weapons, the Wolven Bracers are perfect for buffing the damage of your Claws while in vampire form. This item comes with the following stats:
- +Claw Damage
- +Damage against Animals
- +Claw Critical Hit Chance
- +Claw Critical Hit Damage
Additionally, this unlocks a Claw Art attack, which is always handy.
You can get the Wolven Bracers in Blood of Dawnwalker by searching for a wolf den in the southern woods of Rockfells. There are quite a few wolves here, but they shouldn’t pose much of a threat if you play your cards right. You can also try sneaking past the wolves by using Shadowstep.
Kingslayer Sword
If you’re having trouble getting Durandal early, then the Kingslayer is a worthy alternative. You can get this weapon by digging up a buried treasure chest along the riverbank west of Svartrau City. Look for a discolored mound of dirt in between two rocks, then dig it up. Doing this will consume one Time Segment.
The Kingslayer focuses on defense. The stats it provides are as follows:
- +Perfect Block Window
- -Block Stamina Cost
- +Stamina Regain from Perfect Block
- -Attack Stamina Cost
One thing to keep in mind though is that the Kingslayer’s attack speed is slow, so you won’t be able to get as many hits on an enemy as with other swords. Still, it packs a punch, and it synergizes extremely well with other effects that trigger off of Perfect Blocks, like the Walking Fortress ability, one of the best Swordmaster skills for defensive play.
If you don’t have a shovel yet, there’s one near another treasure spot inside a bear cave to the far east of Coen’s House in Laslea, just past the Outlaw’s Gorge Shrine.
