Avery The Poke Kid’s family has shared his final Pokemon pack opening following the 12-year-old creator’s death.
Avery died on September 18 after living with stage 4 pancreatoblastoma for nearly eight years. His parents had revealed one day earlier that he had entered hospice care.
The young creator became known for opening Pokemon TCG products and sharing his love of collecting online. Shortly before his death, the Pokemon community helped him reach his dream of surpassing 100,000 YouTube subscribers and receiving a Silver Play Button.
Avery pulls Greninja ex SIR from 30th Celebration
On September 22, Avery’s parent-run TikTok account uploaded a video titled “Avery’s final pack.” The caption said his family felt “lost, angry, broken and scared” without him, while expressing gratitude for every moment they shared.
The nearly three-minute video shows Avery opening a Pokemon TCG: 30th Celebration product containing an Eevee promo card, a Pikachu coin and two booster packs from the anniversary set.
Avery immediately takes notice of the anniversary stamp appearing across the cards before pulling an Articuno illustration rare from his first pack. He also reveals one of the 30 collectible Pikachu cards included across the set.
Calling for “last pack magic” before opening the second booster, Avery then pulled a Jirachi SIR. He covers his mouth in disbelief before smiling at the pull.
Avery said he had not expected to find an SIR after already pulling Articuno, then showed the cards to the camera and ended the video with his familiar sign-off: “See you next time, trainers.”
His parents used a similar message when announcing Avery’s death at age 12, writing, “See you next time, Trainer.”
