After the midterm elections, Senator Bernie Sanders described it as one of the greatest progressive victories in the country. The senator posted on his personal X account, listing all of the victorious Democratic candidates, and said he was proud to see the people vote against oligarchy.

Last night saw some of the greatest progressive victories in modern American history. All across the country, in rural and urban areas, Americans said NO to oligarchy, and YES to an agenda that fights for the working class.

The senator welcomed the results as a rejection of oligarchy and a vote for working-class Americans. In Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed defeated Republican Mike Rogers in a state Trump carried in 2024. El-Sayed became the first Muslim senator in U.S. history. In Maine, Troy Jackson unseated five-term Republican Susan Collins. It is worth noting that Jackson is Maine’s first Democratic senator elected since 1988.

Democrats flipped Senate seats in North Carolina, South Carolina, Kansas, Texas, Iowa, and Ohio, according to the AP. They took the House, the Senate, and a majority of governorships.
