Dragon Ball: 5 Strongest Saiyans Who Officially Surpassed Yamoshi, Ranked

Yamoshi is one of the most mysterious Gods in the Dragon Ball mythos. The only known God in the Saiyan pantheon, legends state that Yamoshi was the man responsible for unlocking Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God. Not only that, it’s strongly implied that he was the original Legendary Super Saiyan as well (perhaps making Broly a direct descendant). Despite setting the bar for power amongst Saiyans, Yamoshi has long since been surpassed.

While Yamoshi’s base form wasn’t particularly strong, Super Saiyan God would have raised him to divine levels. Very few Saiyans have managed to surpass Yamoshi in Dragon Ball, but those who have are among the most powerful beings in the multiverse. Some are even stronger than the Gods themselves – something Yamoshi could never claim for himself, even at his absolute strongest.

Future Trunks Fought & Bled For His Future, Just Like Yamoshi

Personality-wise, Future Trunks is almost like a modern day Yamoshi. Both warriors desperately fought to change their world, but where Yamoshi failed (in the short-term, at least), Trunks actually succeeded. As a Hybrid Saiyan, Trunks has an amazing amount of potential, especially in the future timeline where he trains non-stop to make sure his world can never be threatened by the likes of Androids or Gods again.

Future Trunks only surpasses Yamoshi in the Dragon Ball Super anime timeline, where he unlocks Super Saiyan Rage during his final battle with Fused Zamasu. Super Saiyan Rage is a version of Super Saiyan Blue that mixes God Ki with Super Saiyan 2, leading to a powerful Demigod form that briefly overpowers Fused Zamasu.

Vegeta’s Current Power Level Puts Yamoshi To Shame

Vegeta’s come a long way since the end of Dragon Ball Z. As of the Dragon Ball Super manga’s Super Hero Saga, Vegeta has unlocked Ultra Ego, defeated Goku in a fair fight, and officially become Beerus’ student. He’s fully caught up to Goku in every way that matters, and while Ultra Ego isn’t as powerful as Perfected Ultra Instinct, it’s only a matter of time before he surpasses his rival once and for all.

Yamoshi may have been able to beat Vegeta during the Majin Buu Saga, but now that the Prince of All Saiyans has access to God Ki, the Saiyan God wouldn’t stand a chance. Unlike Goku and Yamoshi, Vegeta learned how to use God Ki naturally, making him the first Saiyan in history to ever do so. Vegeta proved that the God Ritual Yamoshi created specifically to become a God was totally unnecessary.

Goku is Everything Yamoshi Wanted the Saiyan Race to Be

At best, Yamoshi’s Power Level scales to around Super Saiyan God Goku in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. Needless to say, the difference in power between SSG Goku at the start of Dragon Ball Super and Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku at the end of Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103 is like comparing Kid Goku to EoZ Goku. Goku is so much stronger than Yamoshi at this point in the series, that it isn’t even funny. Not that this would bother Yamoshi.

Yamoshi rebelled against the Evil Saiyans of yore. While Goku isn’t a traditional hero, he always does the right thing when presented with the opportunity. Not only that, Goku even rehabilitates the evil people around him just by being himself, in a way continuing Yamoshi’s fight and keeping his spirit alive. The original SUper Saiyan God couldn’t have asked for a better successor to bring his legend back to life in the modern day.

Broly Has the Most Potential of Any Saiyan

SSJ Broly

If Yamoshi was indeed Universe 7’s first Legendary Super Saiyan, it’s entirely possible that Broly is descended from him. Either way, Broly’s Power Level has outclassed Yamoshi’s since his introduction. Broly in Dragon Ball Super is an absolute monster of a warrior. Born with a Power Level of 10,000, Broly’s base form was already strong enough to rival literal God forms when Goku and Vegeta met him.

That alone means Broly has more potential than any other Saiyan in Dragon Ball. At full power, Broly’s True Legendary Super Saiyan form rival Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta. Heading into the Black Frieza Saga, Broly is ripe for some meaty character development and has the power to fight back, unlike Goku and Vegeta. At this point in the series, Yamoshi is like an ant to Broly.

Gohan’s Full Power is Something Yamoshi Would Never Be Able to Grasp

Gohan Beast and Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku

Following the awakening of his Beast form in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Gohan is currently the strongest Z-Fighter in the series (and most powerful mortal, second only to Black Frieza). The Dragon Ball Super manga keeps the Super Hero Saga’s story going for three more chapters in a new epilogue that also confirms that Gohan Beast is stronger than Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku, True Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, and Super Saiyan Blue Evolved Vegeta.

Gohan Beast is so strong that Whis even suggests to Beerus that he become Universe 7’s next God of Destruction – despite the fact that Beerus was actively grooming Vegeta for the role. Yamoshi wouldn’t even be able to comprehend just how powerful Gohan is, but it likely wouldn’t bother him. The original Super Saiyan God would take pride in just how far his people have come. Gohan is living proof of the Saiyan race’s limitless potential.
